The Caps had Murphy, Stevens, Langway, and eventually Hatcher on the same blueline and couldn't win.
With Carter and Lewis on the horizon, I wonder what changes are made? Like, who plays 3rd line center? I would be temped to put Amadio between Brodzinski and Kempe and see what happens. Personally, I don't change the top line and reunite the 70s. After that, I put Kempe on the 3rd somewhere. It would be hard to take Amadio out right now.
Amadio centering Kempe and Lewis would seem like a really nice 3rd line to me.
I am curious what would be your 4th after
iafallo kopitar brown
pearson carter toffoli
kempe amadio brodzinski
?
Lotta speed there.Amadio centering Kempe and Lewis would seem like a really nice 3rd line to me.
On this road trip, Kopitar leads the team in scoring. Followed by:
Andreoff
Brodzinski
Forbort
Amadio
Clifford
Shore
Phaneuf

I never thought I'd see the day when we have so much depth I'm worried about Andreoff getting pushed out of the lineup
That's a who's who of WTF right there. If you told me this before the trip, I'd wouldn't even watch because I would have figured we'd be 0-6.
All that tells me is that if we actually had second line scoring right now we'd be killing it.On this road trip, Kopitar leads the team in scoring. Followed by:

Iafallo too. I love what he brings, but he doesn't produce much for a guy playing on the top line.Brown too. Though he's been playing well. Aside from Kopitar, the 1st and 2nd lines have disappeared nearly entirely, though to be fair Kopitar and Kempe have matched up with some monsters lately, like Crosby/Malkin, Stamkos/Hedman, even Toews who plays Kopitar very effectively. That's enabled the depth to do their thing, and our depth has outplayed opponents.
I disagree with giving Blake the credit for our "depth" I would rather say give credit to Stevens for finally playing Kempe Brodzinski amadio gravel ladue and others the were in the kings system but not brought up. Giving Iafallo a shot out of camp.. Also bringing in the new system tweak I will give credit for signing Iafallo (altho i believe dean would have as well) and moving players to new situations that help The Dion trade is to early to give him credit altho i like it so far. This is one of the moments where stats don't say the whole story and i know you're not saying thst RJ.
Brown and Iafallo have been very solid. The points will come.
Carter comes back and Lewis will stabilize this team even more.
Our depth has been killing it thanks to Rob Blake.

Brown quietly reached 40 points on the 17th in Buffalo, something he hasn't done in the past 5 seasons. If he keeps up his current pace and plays remainder of the season, he should reach 55 points, roughly his average from 2008-2012. I would say the points are already there for Brown. This is one of the moments where stats don't say the whole story and i know you're not saying thst RJ.

Iafallo has 20 points so far. At this pace, he's on track to earn 28 points on the season, which is your 3rd line winger type. I'd like to think that he's made Kopitar and Brown better players; the WOWY numbers back this up. Since Jan. 1, he's put up 10 points in 18 games, so that's actually not bad for a first line winger. You could be right that the points are coming for Iafallo.
The fact that Iafallo has held the first line winger slot really has given the lines some balance. He has quietly been a key part of the Kings' success this year.
Right now that 2nd line is the glaring problem.
Kempe has filled in admirably, but he’s no Jeff Carter. While Toffoli and Pearson have their own funks they are fully responsible for, lacking a better center than Kempe has done them no favours.
