I think a trade with Montreal for Drouin would make sense. Drouin is not a natural center, and the Habs are forcing him to become one because they lack center depth. As much as I would not want to trade Vilardi, I would be open to trading him if Drouin was coming back in return. I would do a package of our 1st round, Vilardi, and somebody else for Drouin.
You absolutely don’t make that trade ... ever!!... period!!!!
Have not learned nothing about how the FO managed itself into this current situation??
If you trade anyone it’s Amart, Carter, Pearson... for a Drouin, Skinner or Faulk... but I’d rather see Amadio, Clague and Vilardi in the Kings.. especially with what they’ve shown so far .

No offense but MaxPac is nowhere near the goal scorer Ziggy Palffy was! Heck, even Carter wasn’t close to Palffy...

NHL Player Stats - GOALS - Last 7 Seasons

1 Alexander Ovechkin 290
2 Steven Stamkos 223
3 John Tavares 210
4 Tyler Seguin 207
5 Joe Pavelski 206
6 Max Pacioretty 205
7 Patrick Kane 203
8 Evgeni Malkin 200
9 CA Jamie Benn 195
10 US Phil Kessel 192
11 CA Corey Perry 192

So you don't think 4.5 million is worth top 6 in the NHL the last 7 seasons?

Palffy had 3 seasons of 40+ goals, 3 seasons of 30+ goals before his last 2 seasons. They aren't that far off in terms of goal production. Trying to say that they are playing in different arenas is pretty absurd.

If you don't like the player, whatever. But the dude can find open ice and has a wicked wrist shot. One of the best in the league.

So you’d mortgage our future for a guy making $4.5 next season then likely to demand $6+ as an UFA??? Are you suggesting a winger is of greater need than a defenseman???
The trade is stupid really. Think of what this team needs, are we really a cup contender and the long term ramifications both financially and depth if we make that trade.
As for Palffy, they maybe statically similar but their impact on the game is completely different! His best comp would be Vlad Tarasenko, or Nik Kucherov... those cute stats don’t even begin to tell the difference between the two

Since Carter will hopefully be our deadline aquisition 'boost', I'm more of the nature that we don't leverage the future if possible, especially for a rental. Sekera and Lucic are two recent reminders. I mentioned our cupboard is quite bare in my first post.

Pacioretty is more of a pipe dream really, but even you don't want to acknowledge how impressive that list of goals scorers he's up there with, and above.

Of course they are different players. Jesus. I'm saying that they are similar in numbers and they both just. Scored. Goals.

The Kings still don't score goals. With Carter being out all season and the rest of the team going cold, we've seen that no one scores goals consistently on this team.

I would wager defense is our most important priority. We haven't recovered since losing Voynov.

Even with Pax I still don't see the Kings scoring goals and it has more to do with the fact that our entire blue line lack anything that resembles an accurate shot.. or a pass on most nights..

Voynov is an A-hole but he would take our D to another level. Guys like Faulk, Carlson, Klingberg and others are what drive an offense in todays NHL. We lack that one PP QB, granted LaDue has a nice shot but he's a 25YO rookie. Hence

I've beaten this dead horse throughout the year but I would give serious thought to trading both Muzzin and Martinez for 1st rounders and defensive prospects... with the monies left go after Carlson or use the assets on a OEL, EK, or someone similar.. grated those guys would be UFA after next season so maybe even wait and let DD we'll be rebuilding around him with better Dmen...

Also, keep in mind that Vilardi, Amadio, Clague and maybe even JAD will be on the roster so add vets because Kopi isn't moveable nor is Brown, Quick and Gabby(hope he retires)...

Muzzin - 1st rounder, top prospect, young roster player
Martinez - 1st rounder or 2nd and top prospect
Carter(if healthy) - 1st rounder, top prospect, young roster player
Pearson - packaged to acquire a young established stud..

If you guys don't think teams would guy up those assets, we just look at the asking prices for Nash, JJ, Pax and keep in mind the crazy haul that Lucic, Hamonic, Shattenkirk, Hanzal and others got...

I like that trade for you guys, Phaneuf is definitely still serviceable. He's been hated on mostly because of his ridiculous cap hit and how he never really lived up to his rookie hype, but if you just look at him for what he is, he's a quality 2nd pair dman who brings a little bit of everything. With OTT retaining salary, his cap hit aint bad either- especially with Gaboriks corpse going the other way...

In terms of Habs wingers available it's Pacioretty- Drouin and Galchenyuk are now playing together and showing chemistry. But Pacioretty could be had though he won't be cheap.
