A go at it. I put Läck at as second goalie as it seems what the future hints at. Lehner and Läck is a level above any of the other contenders for the national team anyway.

Nyquist - Bäckström – Zetterberg
Steen - Söderberg - Forsberg
Sedin - Sedin - Eriksson
Landeskog - Berglund - Lindholm
Hörnqvist (or Tallinder in disguise with a false beard)

Edler - Karlsson
Hjalmarsson - Ekman-Larsson
Hedman - Brodin
Kronwall

Lundqvist / Läck / Lehner

1) Why would we only play Karlsson in power plays, not allowing him to have a rhythm in the game? You can't just sit on the bench and jump into a powerplay in the second period and dominate.

2) Why would Karlsson not play (in all situations) over Grossmann?

3) Don't think we can have that many players, but Ericsson over Strålman? I am not so sure.

4) Nyquist will definitely be in the forward lineup, and preferably over Jimmie Ericsson, but more likely over Elias Lindholm. Forsberg might push for a spot as well, specially if Berglund does not improve his current game.

This tournament is almost 2 years into the future, if not Forsberg is a lock then I would be very surprise, the same goes with Burakovsky. Not so sure about Nyguist, there are many that fighs about the spots. There are like 13 forwards spots I guess.

4 players Bäckström, Zetterberg, Sedin, Sedin is definitely a lock

5 players Hörnqvist will be hard to ignore if he keeps producing like this, especially since he is a roleplayer and can probably fit in anywhere.

7 players Forsberg and Burakovsky should be a lock when this tournament plays in 2 years, if not something has gone wrong.

8 players: Kruger is actually also a lock, he is a MÃ¥rts favorit. I think he had said that he is like PÃ¥hlsson, the first player he write down. So count with Kruger in the team.

Then there is 5 spots left, and then we still have execpt for Nyguist, Söderberg, Landeskog, Lindholm, Franzen, Hagelin, Steen, Eriksson, Klasen etc, maybe even Nylander and Mårts favorits like wennberg and Silfverberg, and players like Hagelin is probably a better fit for a 4th line role. Nyguist is defintaly there and fighting about one of the last spots, but I dont see him as a lock at this point.

Landeskog is a definite MÃ¥rts favorite, and part of the leadership core. Unless he gets relegated to the AHL, he will be on the team.

This time we have more time to prepare, not just a few days. Club pairings are not crucial, I believe.

Can we use Erik Karlsson as a PP specialist and use bigger players on the rolling pairs? We have not had this big of a team before, I think:

Sedin - Sedin - Zetterberg
Landeskog - Berglund - Ericsson
Steen - Bäckström - Hörnqvist
Eriksson - Söderberg - Franzén
Lindholm

Hedman - Brodin
Kronwall - Ericsson
Hjalmarsson - Grossmann
Edler - Ekman-Larsson
Karlsson (Erik)

Lundqvist / Enroth / Lehner

EK needs plenty of playing time, what are you thinking?? :help: he alone was like 50% of Swedens offense last olympics.

Zetterberg - Bäckström - Nyquist
Sedin - Sedin - Forsberg
Hörnqvist - Söderberg - Burakowsky
Hagelin - Krüger - Landeskog
Steen - Lindholm

Forsberg with Sedins might work. Eriksson isn't as good as he once was.

No thanks.

Why don't you like Nyquist?

Also, Sundqvist and Ericsson? Wtf?

Why don't you like Marcus Johansson? And don't question Ericsson! :)

Love Nyquist, on our second team!

Relax, he would get plenty of ice time. Isn't our 9th defender a better hockey player thn our 14th forward?

Right now Johansson makes the team quite easily. I see no reason why Franzén shouldn't make it either.

We can't beat Canada with a bunch of midgets! We play Karlsson hard when we need him! The guy IS rhythm personified. Rhythm'n'Karlsson!

I was thinking he might get playing time on the fourth line as well creating faceoffs in the offensive zone and stay there himself for a few minutes.

With Karlsson:

Sedin - Sedin - Lindholm
Forsberg - Berglund - Karlsson
Zetterberg - Bäckström - Landeskog
Johansson - Söderberg - Eriksson

Hedman - Karlsson
Kronwall - Ericsson
Hjalmarsson - Karlsson or maybe OEL
Edler - Ekman-Larsson

Without Karlsson (up 2-1, 3-2 etc):

Hedman - Brodin
Kronwall - Ericsson
Hjalmarsson - Grossmann
Edler - Ekman-Larsson

Karlsson

PS. Burakovsky will spend time in AHL soon, just like Nyquist did last year.

Grossman is barely good enough to make it in the NHL. He is definitely not good enough to play in the Olympics.

Size was not the problem. Sweden losing its three top centers before the finals was the major problem, as well as not picking our second best defender (Hedman) to the team.

Grossmann was close to joining the Olympic team - on big ice

Maybe size is not the problem. One reason that Canada won though, was size imo.

The Nylander-Sundqvist-Erik Karlsson joke aside, I think we will have something on our 2016 team we didn't have before. A real physical third and fourth line that could be a factor when we roll four lines (and could match Canada on small ice). I want our fourth line to be a line we can throw in if we have the puck in the offensive zone when Sedin-Sedin-Zetterberg logs off and before Forsberg-Bäckström-Hörnqvist do their two-way thing.

Our big forwards and defenders will make it easier for our "lighter" defensemen to shine: Karlsson, Kronwall, OEL, Brodin, Lindholm, Strålman and Enström.

Thus:

Sedin - Sedin - Zetterberg (260 kg)
Landeskog - Berglund - Franzén (296 kg)
Forsberg - Bäckström - Hörnqvist (Lindholm) (276 kg)
Steen - Söderberg - Johansson (288 kg)
Silfverberg - Ericsson - Nyquist (91 + 96 + 84 kg)
Hagelin - Krüger - Eriksson (spitzenkompätänz)
Schumacher - Backlund - Klingberg (95 + 93 + 97 kg)

Edler - Karlsson (100 + 82 kg)
Kronwall - Ericsson (86 + 102)
Hjalmarsson - Hedman (94 + 106)
Ekman-Larsson - Grossmann
(86 + 105)
Lindholm - Brodin (88 + 88)

Rahimi - Kronwall (98 + 102)
Hägg - Klefbom (94 + 97)

Easy? We have 8-9 spots for wingers, we have a lot to choice from, beside Johansson we have, Zetterberg, Sedin, Forsberg, Burakovsky, Landeskog, Steen, Nyguist, Franzen, Hagelin, Hörnqvist, Lindholm, Silfverberg, Eriksson etc. And when this tournament plays, players like Wennberg, rakell, Nylander etc could be up there. But if we only stick to this 13 mention, which 5-6 players do he easily put out of the team?

I like Johansson and think is a very underrated player and it was btw just weird that he didnt toke Bäckström place in the final, instead hagelin played in PP, who is not a playmaker. But I dont see him or, Franzen or Nyguist as a lock, there simple to many that fights about the spots and they do not stand out enough.

Im surprise that you dont have Murray in your team?

When does MÃ¥rts contract expire? I am really tired of him. 4 years is enough already.

I would not count on any of this years rookies for 2016. They might make it but it is equally probable (if not more) that they will be in a sophomore slump by the time the team is being decided.

Nyqvist and Hörnqvist will be there unless they are injured (or traded in Hörnqvist's case...).

Oh, and Strålman is also a lock. Easily. He can and does it all without complaining. I'd prefer not using him with Hedman (who is perfect with Karlsson imo) since he can play with and adapt to anyone.
Hedman-Karlsson
Stralman-OEL
Kronwall, Edler, Brodin, Hjalmar.

Kronwall - EK
Hedman - Lindholm
Strålman - OEL
Hjalmarsson

PP1 EK, PP2 Hedman
BP1 Hedman - Lindholm, Bp2 Strålman - Hammer

Forsberg - Bäckström - Hörnquist
Sedin - Sedin - Zetterberg
Landeskog - Berglund - Nyquist
Steen - Söderberg - Lindholm
Hagelin, Silvferberg

We'll see how Landeskog plays in next year's WHC. So far he's been hot garbage in almost every game for Team Sweden.

Hoping Forsberg keeps on like this and Nylander breaking out next season. We need more top-end skill upfront.
