Your defence is utterly stacked....I predicted Canada-Sweden gold medal game last olympics due to that fact..

We are doomed on defense:

1. Erik Karlsson is a midget
2. Our "big" defenders have weaknesses: Hedman and Edler
3. Ekman-Larsson, Brodin, Oduya and Kronwall can't move Getzlaf out of position
4. Tallinder and Staffan Kronwall are round marks nowadays

Luckily we are blessed with Jimmie's kid brother, Jonathan and Nicklas "Heiden" Grossmann. Hockey sense is what we won't be blessed with. In comes Toby Orr. Rahimi as eight d-man.

So, our hope is Klefbom and Nemeth. Or Robin Norell. Gunnarsson in the taxi squad. This is if we are injury free.

Our defense is the biggest reason Crosby and Giroux will become friends. Someone please call Mattias Öhlund. Maybe Marcus Johansson can play defense? Mange Johansson's big chance. Popovic? Two pairs is pretty darn far from a full house.

[Awoke from a nightmare relieved by the fact Niklas Hjalmarsson still patrols the Blackhawks blueline behind Seabrook and Keith. And Strålman leads the NHL in +/-]

Hedman will be bigger and stronger next time around. He'll be on your team as well. Your defence is wonderful...don't stress in the slightest...

I would question your offensive depth more in the next big international tournament.

Overall your team is great. Full credit Sweden for player development..

As a Jets fan, if I could get any one of your left handed d-man to partner with Jacob Trouba....my lord...dream come true...

Nylander a forth line center? When hell freezes.

Well the sedins are given now when they have bounch back from the torts treatment.

Nylander will not play in the 4th, and zibinejad have to make big steps to make the team.

I can live with the d-pair, probably better then what Mårts will put out. But still, at the moment I would like to see Strålman and Hedman as a second d-pair.

With that said about the Sedins, Edler also got a bounch-back. As MÃ¥rts like him and if Edler continue to actually play well I see him as a lock before Lindholm. It is a pretty sick D Sweden got.

Zibanejad is pretty far from a spot on our national team. I don't even like him in a checking role, he's just too limited in his abilities. I think other young players are going to pass him pretty quickly.

I think Zibanejad will eventually become a good top 6 2-way center he has struggled this season so far because his skating needs to catch up to the new muscle mass he has added. However I agree we have a lot of forward prospects who seem a lot more talented.

You are probably right about Edler. MÃ¥rts definatly have his favorites and dont seem to pay much attention to what is happening i NHL (unless they play for the right clubs in his mind), I hardly think Lindholm is on MÃ¥rts radar yet.

With that said, Edler have play better this year and was good in the last olympics, but he should not be a lock, but he probably is. Btw, both Lindholm and Edler can make the team if not MÃ¥rts focusing on already made d-pair.

Which would be a mistake. We don't need shutdown pairs like Oduya-Hjalmarsson, someone has to be able to move the puck.

At least it may guarantee Hedman gets a spot, albeit he should have one anyway since he is (or SHOULD BE) our second/third most valuable defender behind Karlsson and possibly Kronwall, when we account for Nick's leadership status on the team.

MÃ¥rts went with the set piece tactics at the Olympics but in reality it didn't turn out that way, or at least not that important. I would not count on MÃ¥rts thinking he same way in the future.

But favourites will still be favourites. I just hope that he will be able to use players who he have in his dog house.

Hjalmarsson - Karlsson
Hedman - Strålman
OEL - Kronwall
Edler - Brodin

I would like to see Lindholm getting a shot, but there is not much room.

This time we have more time to prepare, not just a few days. Club pairings are not crucial, I believe.

Can we use Erik Karlsson as a PP specialist and use bigger players on the rolling pairs? We have not had this big of a team before, I think:

Sedin - Sedin - Zetterberg
Landeskog - Berglund - Ericsson
Steen - Bäckström - Hörnqvist
Eriksson - Söderberg - Franzén
Lindholm

Hedman - Brodin
Kronwall - Ericsson
Hjalmarsson - Grossmann
Edler - Ekman-Larsson
Karlsson (Erik)

Lundqvist / Enroth / Lehner

Jimmie? No chance. We have better players.

Berglund and Ericsson over Forsberg, Nyquist and Burakovsky etc? Maybe if Berglund would have played like he did a couple of years ago, but his career has gone down the hill.

The line formations also fells weird to me, I dont think Zetterberg will work very well with the sedins. sedins build their game around letting the puck go fast and also looking for the empty space. Zetterberg is a puck possessions guy that likes to hold on to the puck a lot. I don´t see how that is a good match. Sure Zetterberg can probabaly adapt, but then we will hold back Zetterberg from playing his game, and should you do that? He is probably our best forward in 5v5.

You maybe missed that EK was way more than just a PP-specialist in the olympics, he wasnt in on one single goal against us, while his d-pair was the only one that put up a significant amount of pressure offensvily. It was pretty much thanks to EK alone that we made to the final, and him you want as a 9 th d-man? Do we even get to have so many players in the tournament?

Kronwall and Ericsson had big problems in that tournament. Didnt produce much offensively, and I dont just refer to points, they didnt created much offensive pressure and was in on most of the goals against us. Im not so high on them after that tournament, maybe Kronwall play style fits better on small ice, but he was not good in the olympics.

If Elias Lindholm were to make the 2016 team would he more likely be used at C or RW?

Winger for sure, unless we got many injuries and stuff like that, like we did in the olympics. But in normal cases it is to many good centers for him to play as a center, especially when he plays as a winger in carolina.

1) Why would we only play Karlsson in power plays, not allowing him to have a rhythm in the game? You can't just sit on the bench and jump into a powerplay in the second period and dominate.

2) Why would Karlsson not play (in all situations) over Grossmann?

3) Don't think we can have that many players, but Ericsson over Strålman? I am not so sure.

4) Nyquist will definitely be in the forward lineup, and preferably over Jimmie Ericsson, but more likely over Elias Lindholm. Forsberg might push for a spot as well, specially if Berglund does not improve his current game.
