It's very close between those three. I'd probably take Ekholm right now, it seems like he's perhaps having the best season.

I'd take Ekholm just because of his experience. Lindholm would be very exciting to see, but...perhaps to much of a question mark on how he would react to play in the national team. Ekholm feels safer. Guess Edler is pretty much equal to Ekholm too, but I kind of like Ekholm.

Edler is prone to make mistakes and we cant make mistakes in a short tournament.

Karlsson and Hedman also does this but they have other reedeming qualites.

Yes Linholm is raw and haven't played much internationaly at A-level but hes the best defensive d we got.

Some really good D will be left out. Hope they dont take anyone from KHL or NLA we have better roleplayers in the NHL.

Hampus Lindholm just has to be invited. He's incredible and just turned 22 a couple of weeks ago. A defensive stud.

Yeah that would be a typical Grönborg thing. Same talk as before WJC when he cut Kylington, Andersson and Kovacs. What role that is necassary can not be filled without cuting star players?

My guess on how Grönborg will put up the d-men.

What usually is our downfall is lack of scoring power. Every player makes mistakes. If mistake is your concern, you should be more concern about players like Hjalmarsson that has a lot of giveaways despite he isnt even a puck moving d-men. Hjalmarsson also had a weak olympic, Edler had a strong olympic.

Among those 3 it is a real close call, personally I would like to wait to after SC and WHC to see if anyone stands out there. I personally I like Lindholm and Ekholm more as players, but Edler has the experince and is having one of his better season, so I would probably go with him right now.

I'm pretty sure Kronwall is a 100% lock, like it or not. I'd actually be pretty surprised if he isn't among the first 16 players picked.

Larsson's chances are next to zero I think. I even like Jonathan Ericsson's chances of making the team more, he's everything Gönborg could wish for.

J.Ericsson wont be in the team, Grönborg or not.

The problem is,1, one will then cut one of the best players in the league. 2, You have among the remaining d-men the 2 by far best puck moving d-men together, while have none at that level in the other pairs. Which feels like a waste of talent.

Kronwall might very well though. Kronwall is not a bad player, and got a ton of experience. Someone have to bring experience too.

It will be tons of experince either way (Lundqvist, Sedins, Zetterberg etc), you do not have to force it. The same goes with defensive skilled players. No need to force it.

Kronwall is good, but not as good as he use to be and it is a lot harder competion among the d-men now then it was just a couple of years ago.


Huffman/ You are maybe right. But I do think Grönborg want some big d-men that plays as a defensive d-men in his NHL team to create a shutdown pair.

The younger team is better in all positions but in goal. Shame that world cup is next year think we needed one more year for some forwards to break out.

Its a little different then last time we won the olympics and they left out Näslund and Nylander who was scoring at 1 p/g.

We really need 2-3 forwards to break out in the 70-80p range.

In case of injuries we need more players that can play more positions. Last time we got hit pretty bad and didnt have any good centers left.

No need for players like Krüger this time, Söderberg, Silfverberg, Steen, Zibanejad and if need be Bäckström and Forsberg kan play box play. They are mostly the nr 1 choice for BP in their NHL teams.

The D is hard, we have Ekholm thats left out and hes having a really good season.

Lindhom have the best defensive metrics in NHL so I would pair him with Karlsson. Hjalmarsson the other choice for that positon prefers to play on the right.

We are still weak att goalie for those that saying Lundqvist have a down season he still have better numbers then his average season. Not many goalies posting 92+ season with consistency

I really hope they use the top six D in your proposition. That is one hell of a D-core. Just like Huffman I do have a feeling Grönborg will cut one of the younger guys, probably Klingberg and add guys like Kronwall and Edler as spares. With offensive d-men like Karlsson, Hedman and OEL already on the team (I really hope he doesn't cut one of those!), Klingberg might be a bit redundant.

Indeed, and the defense is real good and surprisingy good for the b-team as well.

I'm wondering if Rakell is closest to become such a player

I'm leaning more and more towards having him on my team. We don't really have a forward like him and I really think he could be a great threat on a third line.

Rakell would do very well on an offensive line, obviously playing the wing. Silfverberg could pair well with defensive players on a shutdown type line. Would probably fit very well with Zetterberg.
