Yes. But he looked great at the start of the past season, then his back and other injuries made him look a lot worse than he really is. I guess only this season will tell us exactly how good/bad he really is now.

Offensively he might not be a great loss, but defensively and his leadership will be sorely missed.

Hagelin-Zetterberg-Silfverberg would've been a damn good shut-down line.


It seems like Sweden always lose some players before or during the big tournaments.

So far we have Kronwall, Steen, Lehner & Zetterberg. Who's the next one, my guess is someone like Forsberg or Bäckström.

Good, strong possession player. Would've been great to have when NA U-24 are skating circles around us and we need someone to cram the puck up against the boards for 15 seconds, to give us time to make a line change.

Steen is only player amomg the injured that is a real loss.

We have so many slow players that it is perhaps a good omen to lose Zetterberg

Steen was not a big lose, so mellanmjölk. Zetterberg is a much bigger lose then people seems to realize I think. Yes he has problem being consistent this days, but to a tournament like world cup I think we would have seen the best of zetterberg.

But better losing him now then in the middle of the tournament like last time I guess.

Backlund? Not sold on that, he had problem in whc just recently Would have prefer Zibanejad or Johansson.

Silfvermountain is one of the best defensive forwards in the NHL.

Watched about 65 of Anaheim's games last season. Even though he started off slow offensively, he was a defensive monster.

Well large parts of the forward core is old but when i read stuff like 'not 100% healthy' or 'forced' to say no it makes me think, if ovechkin had the same issue he would most likely play.

Definetely Henrik Sedin this probably means either Karlsson or Lando gets an A (you'd have to assume Daniel gets the other A)

I'm fine with Backlund as a replacement. Loosing some offence though with Z out, even if he's not as good anymore.

We're not really losing offense though. Zetterberg had 50 points last year while Backlund had 47, and as I said that was last season. Zetterberg is at the age where decline is usually pretty steep while Backlund is in his prime years. It wouldn't surprise me if Backlund actually has a better season than Zetterberg.

Also, it's not like Zetterberg would've played in the top 6 or gotten PP time anyway. Backlund is probably as good defensively as Zetterberg is now.
