Can we stop complaining about who made and who didn't make the team?

All of the players on TNA are pretty good and fit the teams needs in one way or another. This is not like Team USA, in that there were clear problems with the selections made.

The discussion is getting old and circlejerky and isn't productive.

I ****ing love this team. After the wars we've been through with our a American brothers the last two days it'll be nice to come together as we put a best down on the Old World again tonight.

Which players (if any) on team NA would have made their national team straight up if this format didn't exist?

Would McDavid have made TC? Perhaps as an extra F to start in order to gain experience since he will be a big part of TC's future. Would the same apply to Eichel on Team USA? How about Gudreau? USA could use more talent at F.

Gaudreau would be a lock for Team US.
McDavid would be in tough for Team Canada initially but certainly be on the extended list.

Team North America is a really fun group to watch but it has an obnoxious and unloveable fan base. :naughty:

Who are the fastest 3 skaters on this team right now?
McDavid, MacKinnon, Larkin?

Throw them on a line. If speed is the strength of this team, load it up.

Don't see the point, really. Its not like these guys can think and play hockey faster just because they can skate faster (except maybe Mcdavid...). Speed is great for gaining the zone, but you only need one guy for that

Better to spread out the speedsters

Aaron Ekblad
Connor McDavid
Johnny Gaudreau

Jack Eichel < maybe

Loved the intensity of the Canada-USA exhibitions, but really excited to see the sheer speed, talent, and exuberance of the NA team again.

I love high scoring games and team NA brings that. This really is our chance to see future super stars playing together and we will never see them together again.

It will be interesting to see if this young team can clamp down defensively like they will need to when they play Canada/USA. They proved they can score, and I don't think anyone will doubt that, but I think it will come down to how they play defensively, and how they react to the more tight defensive games that the top teams will play.

It'll be interesting to see what this team does against a real team like Sweden/Russia/Finland. Don't think we've seen all there is to be seen from these guys yet.

Pretty much. I think we'll look back in ten years and this will be considered one of the best collection of hockey players ever for a tournament. Different feel than an all-star game for sure. This is going to be legit hockey played at the highest level.

What do you mean by "going to be legit"? The games aren't magically switched in 5 days, this is it. I think this tournament is well underway, exhibition or not it's been intense. Really great hockey.

I mean teams won't be resting players, swapping goalies, or controlling ice time. Yes it's been very good hockey already, but I think once the games matter we'll see guys pick it up even more. USA/Canada game 2 lacked punch because the teams played hard the night before and it was a penalty fest.

I wonder how physical USA and CAN could get against these guys should they meet?

Gonna be weird if they end up playing their own countries, but I must witness it!

True it's going to get better and better! :vhappy: I'm liking all-star hockey in September. Best of all these players are going to have a field day back in the NHL...

I enjoy this team as much as the rest but let's be reality here folks. NA will be torn to pieces by the powerhouses. Agree with Sportsnet it's a shame their 1st tests were not against stronger teams.

McDavid easily makes team Canada and is probably in the top 6.
Who would he "easily" replace in the top 6? now you think he can replace proven star forwards on the best national team in the world. :shakehead

The McDavid hype machine is getting ridiculous, yes he skates fast and sees the ice very well but for christ sake, he's 19 and has played 45 NHL games and so far isn't even the best player on team NA.
