World Cup: 2016 World Cup — Team North America (Part II)

I caught the Scheifele-Eichel, Gaudreau-McDavid pairings at the end but couldn't tell the exact lines with all the line changes.

They swapped Eichel and McDavid.

Imo I don't see why they should care about politics. They're playing to win so if the 3 best leaders are Canadian you go with that. But I'm pretty sure if all 3 were American some people wouldn't be happy either lol
 
I get that this thing is a cash-grab and all but I've bought into the TNA thing, I like the fact that CAN/US is in it together, so I really don't care if those with letters are Canadian or American, just as long as they are deserving.


Some observations; Our top 4 didn't stand out, which is good, they were efficient and moved the puck well. I think Ekblad needs to use Rielly more in the OZone. One of Trouba or Ghost needs to sit, they looked less like good players playing the bottom pair and more like legit bottom pair D. Considering the offensive talent we have on the team, and that Trouba hits, I'd sit Ghost, though I do think he was a bit better than Trouba defensively.

I thought McDavid had a mediocre game, RNH was the best player followed by JohnnyHockey, that Mackinnon needs to use his linemates more (his constant failed rushes started getting annoying in the 3rd). Matthews started strong but became less visible as the game wore on ( which might have to do with NateMac trying to take team EU on by himself). By the 3rd Eichel was looking more comfortable and I expect a better showing next game. Not a big fan of Miller and would like to see Larkin next game.

This Gally crap has to stop. If he was SO dominant why did Habs get owned last year and he can't find prominent role ?? It's not all coaches fault like media makes it out to be in that case.

Galchenyul WAY better than Trochek.....Gally only 22 already a 30 goals scorer,Trochek 23 not so much.:shakehead

I think RNH had a great 2-way game....had some great chances and buried a goal...loved his game

I think MacKinnon was by far the best forward out there today though and Gaudreau was great offensively (some giveaways in the D-zone though)

McDavid was good and made some good set-ups but he'll be even better as the tourny goes on

Matthews was surprisingly great (maybe I shouldn't be surprised but he looked better than Eichel IMO)

It looks like Trocheck is going to be relied upon for the top PK unit (w/Couturier). I would think it's more likely that Miller will be out. But, these are just warm-up games, so who knows. Once the main tournament starts, I would expect Trocheck to be a regular for the PK reason.

I like, I might swap RNH and McDavid if I was McLellan, but I like it. Maybe playing with McDavid and Gaudreau will get Eichel going.

I like Scheifele back at C. They'll probably need his two-way play against the better teams.

I feel like Matthews-Scheif-Saad would be a very heavy line down load and just be a nightmare to play against.

You would put one of the worst players from game 1 as our #1 Center? Really?


I do like the idea of takening Mack away from Matthews, but I'd keep RNH with him. Maybe throw Larkin on their wing as the 2nd line. Then move the McJesus line up to #1.

My lines would be:

Drouin-McDavid-MacKinnon
Matthews-RNH-Larkin
Gaudreau-Schiefele-Saad
Couturier-Eichle-Trochek
 
Someone suggested earlier putting MAtthews/McDavid/Eichel together. If Scheifele is moved back to centre I could see it:

Matthews - McDavid - Eichel
Gaudreau - Scheifele - Saad
Drouin - RNH - McKinnon
Larkin - Coutourier - Trochek/Miller

I wouldn't really read into the order in which I put down those lines, just the line combos themselves :)

If he was the worst, then everyone played very well. He played a very good defensive game. I already see the agenda growing amongst a certain sect of the fanbase, and it's just prelims....
