I'd prefer they stay home and train rather than risk getting injured in a meaningless tournament.

Any Best-of-the-Best tournament isn't any way of meaningless.

They love to play, they love to play for our country and they would love to be battletested against the best players in the world.

Jokinen - Barkov - Pulkkinen
Teräväinen - Koivu - Donskoi

Rantanen

Ristolainen - Lindell
Vatanen - Määttä
Jokipakka - Lindbohm
Pokka

Rask
Rinne

Mikael Granlund - Aleksander Barkov - Teemu Pulkkinen
Valtteri Filppula - Mikko Koivu'C' - Joonas Donskoi

-------------
GK - Niemi and Lehtonen best callups incase injuries to 2 first goalies. Antti Raanta and Joonas Korpisalo good options for third goalie spot. Calgary duo I wouldnt want
D - Lindbohm and Pokka on the mix for 6th and 7th spot
F - Erik Haula/Iiro Pakarinen/Markus Granlund/Mikko Rantanen in the mix for 13th spot

Putting the jr stars in a tournament like this would be just moronic. THEY ARE ABOUT TO BE DRAFTED.

Don't jeopardize their health in an exhibition tournament against men.

D - Lindbohm and Pokka on the mix for 6th and 7th spot
F - Erik Haula/Iiro Pakarinen/Markus Granlund/Mikko Rantanen in the mix for 13th spot

with the whole thing being NHLs showcase, these are the players I see making the team.

Other than that, totally agree with the lineup you posted.

This one is. Any player that gets injured playing against of the "all-star" teams is a giant failure from the organizers.

This, imagine if Chara was a rectal opening. Thinks Slovakia doesn't get the cred it deserves, having to play on a Leftovers team and sees a shining young finnish star digging at the puck in a corner..

Puljujärvi have 12p in 31 games in the finish league, and people want him in WC because he is good against junior players?

I have many times being accused of taking wjc to seriosly, but I still think you shall combine what they do in wjc and what they do in their league when you are hyping a player. Puljujärvi is starting to become overhype.

None of Laine or Puljujärvi is close to the wc team. With that said finlands future is looking good, this is a golden generation for finland, lets see how long they can keep on pumping out big talents like they have done now for a couple of years.

Future team for finland in 3-4 years.

Rantanen – Barkov – Komarov
Laine – Aho – Puljujärvi
Teräväinen – Granlund – Filppula
Pulkinnen - Koivu – Donskoi
Kapanen

Määttä – Vatanen
Jokipakka - Ristolainen
Juolevi - Honka

I'd love to see PuLA-Aho line in men's WCs next spring. Much better option than the european players that can't win us any games.

Aho is the only one who has a chance unless Pulju and Laine really heat up and start posting ppg numbers and even then it's not sure. Have to wonder how someone can seriously think that being good in wjc has any merit when talking about men's WC. Even Granlund who was much better than any of these guys as a 17 year old didn't make it. Barkov might have.

This "All-Star" "Leftovers" crap is meaningless. It tries hard to be "Best-of-the-best" but it's about as meaningful as IIHF yearly joke or other national team games that aren't The Olympics.

The way teams and other are handled make it pretty hard to not take it as a joke.

Get real. Only Aho might be ready for the World Championships in Russia this spring. And even he'd be probably a fringe player there.

As for best vs. best tournament all of them are way too green.

Hold your horses.

"best vs best" USA & Canada aren't allowed to have best possible team due to that ******** u23 team. only they have bragging rights if they win this joke of a tournament. they did it without having the best possible team. and don't get me even started with that EU All-stars ******** my god. this is just 1 big showmatch tournament :/

Yeah I agree with you, no need to tell me that it's a stupid tournament.

But we still have better and more accustomed players than then barely 18-year-olds Laine and Puljujärvi. Sebastian Aho could be a decent 3rd or 4th line winger at that time, maybe?

They are the last one that has bragging rights, since it is NHL tournament controlled by people from this 2 countries, and I would also guess the refs would come from NHL.

I respectfully disagree.

It's even less meaningful than the yearly WHC.

Please elaborate

IIHF Skoda Cup is a real National team tournament. In World Cup, you could end up playing invitational team in a playoff game, even in a final.

Would we really meet at market place after winning NA u23 team in the Finals? Would Finland vs Leftovers beocme a rivalry like Finland - Sweden, if we lost to them or so?

And are the leftover teams ranked in IIHF? Will they have to qualify for the olympics or are they automatically entered? :sarcasm:
