Kempny, I maybe would have gone with Mozik instead for that type of player, but the more of this kind the better.

So the roster so far was as predicted except for Kempny.

I feel like the defense is too defensive plus not enough guys who can log minutes, more vets are needed, and that there is not enough goal scoring at forward, so I would like to see Mozik on D as he's offensive, and the goal scorers I mentioned from the Czech league be put on the team.

Goaltending is fine.

Palat - Krejci - Pastrnak
Hertl - Plekanec - Voracek
Frolik - Hanzal - Hudler
Cervenka - Sobotka - Vrbata
Kovar

Kempny - Gudas
Michalek - Polak
Nemec - Sustr
Kundratek

Mrazek
Neuvirth
Pavelec

Kempny-Polak
Kindl-Sustr
Jordan-Gudas
Zidlicky

Hertl-Krejci-Frolik
Palat-Hanzal-Voracek
Hudler-Plekanec-Pastrnak
Cervenka-Sobotka-Hemsky
Vrbata

I'm not sold on this lineup, I also like Kundratek, Mozik, Polasek, Zacha, Buchtele, Pribyl, Faksa, Vrana, Kovar, maybe Sekac even though he's not done well for awhile and Jaskin as possibilities.

Tlusty has a serious injury, so I'm not sure he will be ready, same with Nestrasil.

I've left Jagr out because he's said he won't play anymore for them, so until he does I won't consider, but if he did he would certainly be there, I hope he changes his mind.

I'm kind of expecting to see at least 1 Sparta player here, as it's the coach's team.

Cervenka? Come on man.

There's no way Hemsky plays on line 4.....Frolik on the first line instead of Voracek? Very unlikely.

Zidlicky is done imo. I think he'll retire at the end of this season.

Michalek will be there I think.

What's wrong with Cervenka, can you name me another Czech LW who's had a better season?

Does Hemsky play at all, I mean I don't see a lot of people here with him on the team. Yes he would likely play on that line as he's not had a good year, even then this is a bit different competition, as it could be a rolling 4 lines system, so don't read too much into it, 4 strong lines is where I'm at, plus he can play the PP, heck, he's on line 3 in Dallas and was now one of the RW's named already.

I'm doing the lines as how I think the players would fit on them, not by ranking, just cause Voracek isn't on the top line doesn't mean much, if Frolik was on that line it would maybe be better and have better balance, Frolik is so good he can play anywhere, if Voracek were there it would maybe be too offensive and top heavy, I want to see 4 strong lines. Of course they are changeable and the coach will have their ideas.

I think Hanzal might be slightly better than Plekanec this year, plus I like the line fit there more.

As for the D it's a bit changeable too, as I said I don't have these set in stone, I'd rather have Zidlicky as he's offensive and Michalek is defensive, I just want another offensive D man there really, does not have to be Zidlicky.

Maybe Michalek will be, but I think this lineup should have more goal scoring.

He has great season in czech league which is little bit different story. Iam not saying he cant be there but it happened so many times that Cervenka was unvisible in crucial parts of tourney or against NA team. And this will be in NA on small ice. Besides I dont see rationale to have him in 4 th line.

I watched Jordan in Devils - Carolina game and he didnt convince me at all. He looked quite sketchy all the game...

You cant be serious about Sparta player there. Ok, if Polasek outshine everybody on WC, that can very hypothetically happen, but no way Prybil or Buchtele have any chance

There are several things "wrong" with him imo:

a) He's soft. Not exactly a useful trait when playing against NA teams.

b) Putting up points in the Extraliga doesn't mean much anymore. The quality of the league has been declining for some time.

c) He failed to make it in the NHL.

d) He tends to perform well against weaker opposition and disappears against quality teams.

How about Faksa?

Jagr-Krejci-Voracek
Palat-Plekanec-Hertl

Fleischmann-Faksa-Frolik

Any idea how would you round out the roster? The final announcement is getting close. I believe it is 1st June.

Besides Kempný and Sobotka, is there anyone else from Europe who would you like to see on the final roster?

Palát - Krejčí - Voráček
Pastrňák - Plekanec - Jágr
Hertl - Sobotka - Frolík
Hudler - Hanzal - Hemský
Faksa / Kovar

Our defense is useless so I won't even bother to discuss it now.

I would like to see Faksa for sure. He could play with Hemsky. Let's see how he does at the World Championship as well. I personally don't think Jagr will come.

I'm torn about Hudler. He didn't have a good season this year, but he's been wrongly omitted from two olympic teams already so I kinda feel really sorry for him :(

The rest looks fine. Not convinced by Kempny atm...

Jaromir Jagr won't be on the World Cup roster, he said 'no' to our GM (Martin Rucinsky).

He wants focus more on his hometown hockey team (Rytiri Kladno), he's the owner. They will battle to get back to our top tier league in next season. And he wants solely prepare for new NHL season. And after all, he's 44, and stated after 2015 WHC that he retires from national team so it's not that surprising. Needs as much rest as possible, I'd assume.

Final roster:

Who will play on our PP? 5 forwards?

Pastrnak, Hertl, Faksa, Jaskin, Palat...these young ones could surprise I think. It will be fun to watch. Too bad you don't have someone like Kaberle or Hamrlik were in the past, those were some really good power-play defensemen.

Yes, on paper it doesn't really look too good in competition with the US or Canada, but who knows? Paper strenght is one thing but we're gonna play on the ice. I see a lot of good two-way players, and some tough defensemen. Both is definitely a positive when facing elite opposition. I guess the question is whether Krejci and Voracek become leaders and you get scoring from other lines too, or not. Otherwise, Mrazek needs to be standing on his head. Not like he couldn't do it though.

Often times, the underdog gets the extra motivation and wants to prove itself, and I think if they know they are not the strongest out there, the effort from them will be that much better because of that.

Hudler will be discussed, but in general I think they made good decisions for this tournament. I'm looking forward to it.

Jaskin and Milan Michalek had pretty bad seasons, didn't expect them to be picked. Hudler had better season than those two. I was also hoping for Vrana. Pretty much PPG in AHL, Washington is stacked so he didn't get to play a single NHL game, plus he was injured, but I just think he is not much worse than Pastrnak who is one of the better forwards on this WC team.

That defense is just disasterous. It will take some time till the 98' generation of defensemen is ready. (Plus Zboril and Masin)
Until then... our defense and so our PP will be an absolute joke.

Hertl - Krejčí - Pastrňák
Palát - Plekanec - Voráček
Faksa - Hanzal - Hemský
Jaškin - Sobotka - Frolík
Michálek

Kempný - Šustr
Jordán - Polák
Michálek - Gudas

That lines look really good. I dont remember any tournament we have such a defense. Only Gudas and Michalek are probably legit 2nd pair NHL Ds. But If we play good all round hockey, we have some chance.

Maybe not a lot of offense but they will be one of the most toughest defenses to play against with physical guys like Gudas Polak and Sustr on each pairing. Kind of scary actually.

Can the hate for Hudler be explained rationally?

I mean Michalek and Jaskin are on the team...
