I don't personally expect neither Subban or Getzlaf being named today.

Subban leads his team in points and brings it every game. Put him in Chicago or Los Angeles and he would maybe be the first name on team Canada`s blueline.

Canada is somewhat lacking in big point shots. It was an issue at the 2014 Olympics. Subban should be there.

It was mainly as issue for LHD, which I do not think the inclusion of Subban solves (I think he deserves a spot on the team though). Weber and Doughty provided elite scoring options at RHD in 2014.

I would be pretty upset if Giroux is left off again. I felt pretty bad for him being snubbed at the Olympics.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills not seeing Subban as an absolute LOCK on everyones projections.

He's every bit as good as Keith and Doughty and leagues better than all the other options.

Doughty isn't a big shot from the point that other teams have to worry about. Canada's PP was tepid in its limited chances, and the biggest reason was a lack of big shots. No Subban (even when he played) and no Stamkos really hurt in that way.

Benn - Crosby - Seguin
Tavares - Getzlaf - Perry
Hall - Toews - Giroux
Carter/Marchand - Bergeron - Simmonds
Stamkos

Keith - Weber
Vlasic - Doughty
Burns - Pietrangelo
Subban or Brodie

Price
Holtby
Fleury

Benn - Crosby - Stamkos
Hall - Giroux - Seguin
O'Reilly - Toews - Bergeron
Marchand - Carter - Perry
Duchene , Toffoli

Keith - Weber
Brodie - Doughty
Giordano - Pietrangelo
Vlasic/Seabrook

(I wish they would pick Subban but I feel like they will pick dmen by their defensive strengths first because of all the offense they will get from the forwards)

If that was the case, then several other Dmen would make the team ahead of Shea Weber and Alex Pietrangelo

Weber and Petro need to be looked at a lot more critically, much better options out there. Seabrook is good, but not great. To me, you already have that player in Vlasic.

Shea Weber has been a minus player 3 out of the last 4 years, and Pietrangelo has been a minus player in back to back years on a good team.

Yeah, not a chance in hell Shea Weber is left off the team. Pietrangelo might get passed over, but not Weber.

That ignores the whole differentiation between LHD vs. RHD Hockey Canada has implemented since 2010. They obviously want defensemen playing on their strong/shooting side of the ice so Seabrook is going against the likes of Doughty, Weber, Subban, and Pietrangelo, whereas Vlasic competes against Keith, Giordano, and Brodie.

I never even considered that, good thinking.
