I'm asking if McCabe can't continue can there be another player, on top of Nelson, be added ?

Isn't McCabe playing now in the game v France?

I'm not watching. working.

but in answer to your question, yes. There are currently 23 players named to the roster. Nelson will be the 24th player. 1 roster spot remains. that player can be a D-man or forward.

25 roster spots.

3 goaltenders 22 skaters.

It was more of a injury replacement question.

there are no injury replacements. you get 25 roster spots and once you name your 25 players, that's it.

if you lose 2 goaltenders you can make an appeal for an injury replacement...but that's the only circumstance in which a team can make a change in the roster beyond the 25

Getting Brock Nelson is big. Matthews and Larkin haven't had the wingers who can finish off plays. Nelson will be able to finish and the offense will be better off. Defensemen have been impressive. Wideman has surpassed my expectations. He's generated offense a lot better than I thought he would.

Skjei has come along well, playing better as the tourney goes on. Looking like JT Compher has turned the corner and is ready to add to the US offense.

Hoping Hinostroza is bumped off the starting roster when Nelson joins the team. Don't know how Hynes will divvy up right handed and left handed shots down through the lineup. Hinostroza has not added much.

The US's only real game left is against Slovakia, and they should be able to win that game and come 3rd in the pool.

Germany has Belarus and Hungary left, so their game against the US will determine who finishes in third. US should beat Slovakia fairly easily, so their game against GER will be more important and a much tougher test.

No way, the US is way better than Germany this year. If they US shows up and is prepared to play, they will win that game.

Canada slept through Germany and won 5-2 against some good goaltending. If the US got have competent goaltending against Canada I think that's a much closer game, maybe a tie. The US should not have any problems against Germany.

Canada has more talented goal scorers overall than the US and Canada didn't face that good of a goaltender. Greiss sat the game out and the Germany starter allowed a very soft goal early. Greiss will face the US and I think he'll keep Germany in the game but the US should win.

Honestly at this point less than 3rd place would really surprise me. This team has gelled well and frankly Germany or Slovakia winning would be a pretty big upset.

I agree that, at this point, anything less than third in the group is a disappointment. That said, we need the Czechs to collapse or we carch Ovi as the two seed in the quarters.

A look at what USA could have looked like with players out of the playoffs.

It's kind of sad that players whose team didn't make the playoffs passed on playing for the U.S.. If they got all of the guys whose team didn't make the playoffs they'd have a pretty good roster.

Gaudreau-Eichel- Palmieri
Pacioretty -Galchenyuk-Wheeler
Saad- Dubinsky -Ryan
Stempniak-Matthews- Stafford
Foligno, Maroon

Greene- Jones
Krug- Faulk
Byfuglien- McCabe
Miller

Schneider
Montoya
Hellebuyck

I try not to be a homer but considering what Larkin is doing for the current roster, it would be hard to keep him out of that lineup.

Regardless it sucks that we don't have more talent over there. Gaudreau with Matthews/Eichel... yes please.

Question: why does Team US not send a team that can actually win the tournament? I mean, they have the players.

Goaltending and Power Play turn against this team. Not good enough. USA play good game against Finland but France and Hungary games already show those problems in PP. They have to score more. Germany got 14 shorts and still was able score three goals. Maybe this was good for USA if they got Czechs in Quarters. Of course they have to beat Slovakia first. Czechs is best option in QF. Suprised that USA is in this situation because they look good in Finland game.
