I saw you guys wrote out Kane and I think that's very likely. However, I wonder if the Hynes connection gets him to go at all. He spoke pretty highly of him during the Devils two meetings against the Blackhawks.

What time do the bars close in Russia?

Gotta beat 4 am or no chance.

I think T. Van Riemsdyk might be invited if Chicago is eliminated. St.Louis would be better for the US though. Shattenkirk and Backes could be realistic.

Hudson Fasching has been added to the team. No surprise. He had dropped hints in his exit interview that he was gonna play, but now it's confirmed. Team now has 5 forward spots available to fill with players eliminated in the first round of the playoffs

Hudson Fashing (20, RW, Buffalo Sabres) has been added. 38 points and 20 goals in 37 games for University of Minnesota; played 7 games for the Sabres this season. Throughout the tournaments when he represented the US at U17, U18, or at the World Juniors, he put up 19 points in 22 games.

TvR would be a great addition, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe he's ever worn the US crest?

as a Hawks fan who watches all his games, he has been so up and down this year. he has been a whipping boy on the Hawks board for a lot of mistakes and his slow feet would look even more worrisome on the big ice.

the kid has had to take on a lot of extra minutes due to a thin Hawks blueline, but overall he might skip and rest up and work on getting stronger and quicker over the summer.

I think that McBain from LA could be on the list of possibilities too, and then Gostisbehere obviously. I think one of McBain/Van Riemsdyk will get a spot, if they are both available.

Still quite surprised Palmieri isn't going, even though he is an RFA.

Thought he would try to put in some good will with USA Hockey and also Hynes is the coach.

I'm not surprised he's sitting out given his RFA status following a breakout year.

I imagine Fasching is going to have a real hard time keeping up with the play.

Rangers might have some players available. McD (definitely won't play), Kreider (possibly), Miller (Doubt it with him being added of the young stars WHC team), Skjei (don't know if hed be invited), Hayes (possibly), Yandle (UFA likely won't play), Stepan (Likely wouldn't play).

None will be on this team more than likely. McD is playing through an injury, Stepan is already on the WCOH team, Skjei will be a ways down the list of people they invite with Gostisbehere, Leddy, Fowler all possibly available and wouldn't surprise me if they ask McBain and TVR before him. The rest are either UFA or RFA and will likely turn down any invite

Fasching always seems to step up when wearing the USA kit, and since Hendricks did okay ..... well whatever.

Would take Skjei over McBain or TVR

It's really quite amazing how the US has the second most players in the NHL (after Canada) and has to dip into the college ranks to fill a roster at the WHC.

And every year somehow people are shocked by this.

Set your watch to the annual complaint. "The US sends a garbage team to the worlds again". Was said last year, the year before and finally another annual pilgrimage.

Doesn't look like Alec Martinez has every played for US hockey. He would be a nice add.

I was surprised by some of the younger turn downs. The older guys didn't surprise me, and it didn't surprise me that they took a couple college guys, but the amount surprised me this year.

I think the u23 team is a factor, plus a few unlucky RFA situations. But it's really not that much of an outlier year this

Right, yeah I kinda forgot about that when I posted that, that makes sense.

Larkin is a big add for the US.
