Don't get me wrong, I love the World Championship and most hardcore fans do, but it doesn't have the same prestige as the Stanley Cup for most in NA and I'm sure for some European hockey fans as well.
You guys should be cheering on Ovi to win Lord Stanley's Cup, it would cement his status as probably the greatest Russian hockey player since Kharlamov.
You're looking at it from your own perspective as a Canadian. To Russian kids growing up in Russia, the World Championship is the most coveted prize. Don't believe press releases from players under contract and making huge money. They aren't always genuine!
