Final 2008 better)

None are as good as the last game in 1972 in Russia :)

Back on topic, I know Russia will be great hosts for this tournament I'm excited. Wait until you guys see Connor McDavid play, he will raise you to your feet in appreciation and awe much like Tretiak did for Canadian fans.

Make sure you buy tickets to watch Canada play if you can just to watch Connor McDavid.

The players themselves and their legacy. Lord Stanley's Cup is the hardest trophy to win in hockey.

Don't get me wrong, I love the World Championship and most hardcore fans do, but it doesn't have the same prestige as the Stanley Cup for most in NA and I'm sure for some European hockey fans as well.

You guys should be cheering on Ovi to win Lord Stanley's Cup, it would cement his status as probably the greatest Russian hockey player since Kharlamov.

Nice north american view on the matter.

Regarding the players it may be right for NA players because they are brought up with the absurd attitude towards inernational tournaments. Yeah, earning money for the owners is the most important thing in the world. We get it, owners.:sarcasm:

No, the NA cup is not the hardest tropy to win. Again you may belive it in NA, but NA is not the World.

The prestige of the WC suffers because of the NHL egotism in the first place which makes it harder to cope with the whole NHL thing.

I do cheer for Ovechkin to win the SC. Not because it would cement whatever. It can't. I don't care one bit what the NA press will tellthe NA fans they should believe. Anyway, how could those people judge Kharlamov? I want Ovechkin to win because

a.He wants it and I like him and want him to get his wish. It's also just natural for an athlete to want to win in the league he is playing in... and the WC and the Olympics

b.There are 3 Russians currently on the team. I want my countrymen to win(And I will never wish them to lose just to have them available for the WC).

What I couldn't care less about is what the opinion in NA will be regarding Ovechkin. I know who he is. I don't care what people who declare Gretzky the greatest of all time hockey player and Crosby the best player right now think(sorry to pop those NA bubbles to you). And even less do I need their opinion on Kharlamov and who the greatest russian player was. I have enough fun reading their comments about russian players/prospect/past greats.

Easy there my friend, you're getting worked up. Maybe the attitudes are that way because our best players are still in the playoffs when the IIHF tournament is on.

I bet it would be different if they moved the World Championship to after the Stanley Cup playoffs, I don't know? Imagine if the best Russian players couldn't play in the WC because the KHL season was still on. Think about it.

Regarding media and press, you do know we think for ourselves right? I think the World Championship suffers because the best league in the world is still in the playoffs, not what other people tell me to think.

If you don't care about my high opinion of Ovechkin, that's on you. He's a great hockey player, I think very highly of him.

Anyways, I'm hoping for a good World Championship, Russia looks good. I personally love this tournament and will be following it closely. Good luck to my Russian brothers (just not against Canada)

Huh? On that Shalunov-Gubin-Zhafyarov line which was a thing pretty much whole season Gubin played center all along. Lots of questionable decisions on this roster at the moment but we all know Znarok likes his grinders hence people like Gusev get canned and Sannikov, Galuzin, Shalunov etc. are still in the camp.

Hello!!! Even in the middle of the season in Sibir formed a new top line
Sannikov-SHALUNOV-Shumakov.
And it is as a central Shalunov showed himself perfectly.

That's a nice center situation to have: Datsyuk, Anisimov, Shipachyov, Kalinin + Malkin or Kuznetsov joining later. :naughty:

Lord Stanley's Cup is the hardest trophy to win in hockey.

Pffft, Olympic gold is much harder. First of all the NHL needs to find her way in :naughty: then it's held only once every fourth year, then Olympic games rosters are much shorter than NHL teams roster, plus if you play in a bad team you can get traded to a better one, and I doubt Kopitar will be traded to Team Canada, etc...

Radulov skips WC... again

Source? I haven't read a word about it from Radulov, his agents or the NT coaching staff. Just wild speculations by mad journalists and wannabe analysts and some cautions words from Tretiak and Mutko. Again, not a single word from the people whose words actually matter.

I hope we see Malkin and no Kalinin. I'm pretty pissed wih Znarok's favorite pets policy.

Easy there my friend, you're getting worked up. Maybe the attitudes are that way because our best players are still in the playoffs when the IIHF tournament is on.

Oh, again you feel to be in position to tell me what to do?:) So NHL, so NA:)

Who's getting worked up? I guess you don't like to hear the facts about the "outside World" which is very different from the NHL-centric NA. There is no emotion to it whatsoever on my part. Those are simple facts.

The NHL desn't respect the World Championship as it should. It's a simple fact.

I bet it would be different if they moved the World Championship to after the Stanley Cup playoffs, I don't know? Imagine if the best Russian players couldn't play in the WC because the KHL season was still on. Think about it.

That's the thing. You don't understand te outside world. You don't know how it works. The WC can't be moved to after the NHL playoffs, because ALL european leagues are done wih their playoffs by mid April(because all eropean leagues aren't arrogant *********). AND if the KHL season would be still on the KHL would be obliged to release the players(which the KHL ALWAYS does for all international tournaments). It is an absurd thought outside NA that some national league could prevent players from playing international games.

Regarding media and press, you do know we think for ourselves right? I think the World Championship suffers because the best league in the world is still in the playoffs, not what other people tell me to think.

Very few people think themselseves. Most people think that they think themselves.

You for example don't think that it's wrong for the best league in the world to be still in the playoffs while the WC is on. all because to you the NHL is mre important than international competition.

Anyways, I'm hoping for a good World Championship, Russia looks good. I personally love this tournament and will be following it closely. Good luck to my Russian brothers (just not against Canada)

Russia looks strange with Znarok's favorites on it instead of players that should be there. But Znarok seems to be getting a lot of upgrades from the NHL as most NHL teams with Russians on them play against eachother in the first 2 rounds. I am already not happy to not see players I wanted to see there, but Znarok will still have a chance to win it with the guys he will be getting.

It is great that McDavid will be there. Looking forward to seeing him in person. On the other hand a lot of Canadians declined as always(as well as some Swedes and Americans) and that just makes them look selfish.

It will still be a fun to watch, so

Ok, let's look at real facts. He didn't come to the national team base and didnt say a word to the coach. It is not my or someone's speculation, right?
Considering this I make my own conclusion. I may be wrong (hope so). It is a forum where people say what they think. It is not a news source, is it?

That's a fact, so what? Quite a few players aren't there still.

and didnt say a word to the coach. It is not my or someone's speculation, right?

Again, source? Exactly abou thatpartI ahen'r heard the coach's or Radulo's comments. I is a aspeculation on your part then.

Nothing wrong with tellling what you think, but tell us it's what you think an don't just state it as a proven fact.

So far from my point of view which is limited by the scarce information on the matter Radulov obviouly isn't going to resign with CSKA and is seeking an NHL contract. So there's nothing strange or ridiculus for him to make a trip to the US to have some talks.

He is a lock for the national team, he doesn't have to prove he belongs there. So on the coach's side I see no problem with letting him do it. He is not skiing or drinking himself to death, there is no risk he won't be able to play.

The Russian team is shaping up well, you guys should win your pool.

If you get a chance to see McDavid live, definitely go. You might end up cheering for Canada when we are not playing each other :).

The two greatest hockey nations would be a great Gold medal game. Here's to hoping for a Canada vs. Russia final.

Moreover, Tretyak is a president of RIHF and aware what happens in the national team.
