Right now Aho at 35 overall by Carolina looks like an absolutely disgusting steal. His hockey IQ is through the roof.

Impressed with Rantanen today also, he's taken a few steps forward this season.

Nice... Complicated game, USA aint bad, speedy team. Best today: Aho, Laine, Pulkkinen, Komarov, Kukkonen. But i think whole team can do better, looked sleepy at times..
Lajunen and Sallinen should not play on Friday.

i think Komarov had one of the worst games i've seen from him even tho' he got 1+1

I wonder how the PP lines will look like, Crap.. I dont envy Jalonen.

Personally I think there is only one big question: Komarov or Rantanen? Personally I'd go with Rantanen. Of course there's the question of the two defenders as well.

As I've said, I'd go with:

Barkov
Laine Jokinen Aho
Lindell
***
Rantanen
Pulkkinen Koivu Granlund
Pokka

Lajunen and Sallinen should not play on Friday.
One of them will, since we need a fourth line centre as well.

However, I do wonder how MaG felt, if he was watching the game. Neither of them looked like an upgrade. Sure, the whole team's got plenty of room to get better, but still.

As I've said, I'd go with:

Barkov
Laine Jokinen Aho
Lindell
***
Rantanen
Pulkkinen Koivu Granlund
Pokka
Same, except Hietanen > Pokka.

I also suspect Komarov will be there over Rantanen.

It's kind of funny that not too long ago Granlund and Pulkkinen were going to be the future of the Finnish national team, the new Koivu-Selänne pair if you will. Now them potentially playing together feels like an afterthought.

Excited to watch WHC for the first time in a while, funny how a couple young guys on the team changes perspective.

One of the moments in today's broadcast that would have been a  if it wasn't so  was when Granlund & Koivu were in the studio and the host asks them if they've got to know Pulkkinen yet.

And Mikke calmly quips: "Yeah, I only played my entire junior career with Pulkkinen."

Sucks that we can't watch WHC from Yle. Maybe in two years..

What on Earth do you mean?

Jo entuudestaan nimekäs MTV:n asiantuntijatiimi on saanut Hannu Aravirran, Pasi Nurmisen ja Juhani Tammisen rinnalle kultaisen vahvistuksen. Leijonat sekä viimeksi Nuoret Leijonat MM-kultaan johdattanut Jukka Jalonen tulee tuomaan näkemyksensä peliin. Toinen uusi kasvo on sanavalmis hänkin: Stanley Cup -voittaja Ville Nieminen!

With Barkov we are witnessing a little bit of Jari Litmanen syndrome again. Barkov moves the puck so quickly and from such crazy angles and by such surprising ways that his linemates have hard time realizing he just got the puck to them. Litti at his best was the same. Kinda too good for the rest of the Finnish NT.

Koskinen just makes me nervous, kind of like Vehviläinen at the U20's.

Koskinen had OK game but I also dont trust him in a higher pressure situation. The first goal went in too easily. In the second goal, maybe Saros could've catched that one shot and avoided the rebound which resulted to a goal.

Saros has a decent shot at dethroning Koskinen from his #1 spot. For me Saros would be #1. Maybe it would be smarter to let Saros start in the second USA game, because now they got a feeling on Koskinen. It would of course be tricky to then only let Koskinen get 1 start vs a top team Canada which is the very last game of the preliminary stage and would most likely decide the group win... So I guess KJ or who ever decides it will let Koskinen play the second USA game too. I'm hoping Saros for Canada game in that case.

There was a poll on these forums of the redraft of last year and people voted Aho to go at #13 in 2015 redraft. I would personally rate him even higher, but that's already a big leap from #35.

It's here. Boston Bruins select Sebastian Aho :):

The little rest after the playoffs seemed to have done wonders for Aho, he was so darn efficient throughout the game! It boggles my mind how he's able to keep bigger and stronger defenders off the puck with such ease.

I feel like the first line appeared to suffer a tad from the fact that both Laine and Barkov are used to being the catalyst of their line in their respective clubs and now they have to find the equilibrium for the line. I'm sure it'll come together the more they play. Although Aho-Laine was money on the overtime, again.

I also suspect Komarov will be there over Rantanen.

I don't even know why I put Pokka over Hietanen there, I prefer Hietanen. I also think that Komarov might be there instead of Rantanen, but I'd choose Rantanen because he has quicker hands and better playmaking skills. Komarov would be strictly a net front guy, whereas Rantanen would provide a little bit more versatility. Not that this is a big deal, both Komarov and Rantanen are very good.

Well, I would have quipped: "Well, actually tbh - no. Sure I played with him my whole junior national team career but the guy is still an enigma to me. I mean Pulks is all shot and not much else while I am no shot at all and all passing and something else still. -No, no I don't get or know him really. But maybe one day. Who knows. We are still young and many doors waiting to be opened, eh."

(And a momentary awkward silence in the studio. God I would have loved it. But that's me. LOL)

No, never met him. He plays in the other conference, y'know? I didn't even know the Red Wings had a Finn at all after Filppula left. So, that's a surprise to me...

(And then keep your poker face.)

I just prefer YLE to watch ice hockey. MTV is ok and looks like they have got a good team.

I was joking. Those additions (minus JJ) come across as "how can we annoy the Finnish people even more with our sub par coverage".

I enjoy the "Puuhanurkka" immensely, where Nurminen and others do stick handling and show stuff.

That's a solid body check by Nurminen!

 There ya go, you fancy suit charlatan. Doncha **** with Nupe.

Aho has really impressed me this spring. He has developed a lot faster than I would have expected last summer, and I hope he keeps it up for years to come.

He looks to me like a combination of Donskoi and MiG and thats a combination for success in NHL. Sure he lacks size and top end shot, but his IQ, skating and strength on the skates more than make up for it. And for a guy his size he seems like REALLY hard to knock of the puck.

I thought he was a bit of a steal when he got drafted, but now seems like he should become top 10 of the whole class.
