Apparently Parenteau is returning tomorrow, who goes down to the Marlies to make room, Hyman?

Ben Smith IMO, he was apparently a post deadline emergency recall too.

Drop Grabner down to rot on the 4th line, and play PAP with Hyman and Nylander.

I'm very confident Pittsburgh will grab one of those two wild card spots.

We will end up with a pick from 15 to 18.

Some recent picks in that slot...

Zach Senyshyn
Mathew Barzal
Kyle Connor
Thomas Chabot
Dylan Larkin
Sonny Milano
Travis Sanheim
Alex Tuch
Ryan Pulock
Nikita Zadorov
Curtis Lazar
Mirco Muller
Cody Ceci
Tom Wilson
Tomas Hertl
Teuvo Teravainen
J.T Miller
Joel Armia
Nathan Beaulieu
Mark McNeill
Derek Forbort
Vladimir Tarasenko
Joey Hishon
Austin Watson
Peter Holland
Nick Leddy
David Rundblad
Louis LeBlanc
Erik Karlsson
Joe Colborne
Jake Gardiner
Chet Pickard

The tank is harder this time of year. Soon playoff teams coast as they know they'll be in the dance. So easy for a team to accidentally get a few Wins. Bernier hopefully continues to STB. Maybe Lou can make up a fake injury for Reilly.

Its been funny on the main boards seeing them defend him, defend the trade, defend Rutherford (one of the worst GMs in hockey), etc.

Looks like the reality of 6.8M 6 years remaining and substraction of Kapanen, Harrington, and likely a 1st, for a lazy one-dimensional soft winger who's one strength he's only been pretty good but not great at over the past two seasons.. Is starting to sink in.

It's very amusing. I called Rutherford a bad gm a few days ago and Pens fans replied saying he fleeced us out of Phil Kessel.

Maybe at the time it looked like a bad trade but I wouldn't be surprised at all if Kapanen is a better player in 2-3 years than Phil will be at that time. He seems to be in a decline that wouldn't have fit our window anyways.

You know that even if the Leafs finish dead last, there's a better chance of them picking 4th than there is picking 1st, right?

You should probably respond to that same Pens fan in 2 years when Kessel is 20 pounds overweight and scoring 15 goals in a season.

Remember there was some wise folks here that predicted Seguin would leave Kessel in his dust in no time?

Oh how right they was and how oh sooooo wrong so many here was.

Come the 40 game mark of the 2017/18 season, we will have folks here stating that Kap is every bit the player PK is but with much better intangibles and stronger two way game.

You can book that.

I have this terrible feeling the lottery is going to be really ugly

like.. detroit loses their wildcard spot after the very last game of the year and wins a top 3 pick

and/or we dont win any lottery pick, then the rest of the league laughs at us and all offseason we hear 'tanking is not a viable strategy anymore'

Phil should already shed 20.
The guy doesn't check so what's the weight for ?

How is a team with all of Pitts talent so bad?

Watching Crosby, Malkin, Kessel, Letang and Honqvist stumble around on a PP and barely get a shot is sickening.

Bettman killed the tank when all the Canadian teams were out of the playoffs.

Why did it have to be this year :(

A guarantee of Matthews or Laine would make me feel much better!

I wonder how the NHL is going to raise the draft age if they decide to do that. An abrupt change would cause a horribly diluted draft with mostly only players undrafted in the previous year available then a typical talent pool the next season. And this would happen while the Leafs are rebuilding.

Im preparing myself for Pitt missing then we lose all three lotteries and pick 4th.

Such is life as a Leafs fan.

We can call it "Larry Murphy's Law"

screw that

I'm going gamblers fallacy

I will bubble wrap my tv and hide things I can throw

and have cold beer on hand:laugh:

Humpday
All teams that lose tonight are automatically entered to win a brand new Aston Martin Austin Mathews

NYI vs TOR -> This is a recording
CHI vs STL -> Both teams are far enough away from PIT that this game almost doesn't matter. If I HAVE to choose I go with STL.
NSH vs CAL -> Calgary in OT would be great for both picks, of course I have to prioritize the Leafs pick here.
ARI vs VAN -> Arizona in OT, both teams are 9 points up on the Leafs, Arizona has 66GP, Vancouver 65.
ANA vs COL -> Colorado is in the sweet spot between the Leafs and Pens, Anaheim is 7 points up on the Pens. This win/loss combo really only relates to the Pens pick.
WSH vs LAK -> LAK with any amount of points will be nice, they're currently 7 points up on the Pens with 1 GiH.

I think Arizona is capable of winning more then Vancouver to be honest lol.

Well it depends on how quick 4 of Vancouvers most important players are coming back from injury, but yes I'd prefer a Vancouver OT win.

I'm cheering for Colorado. The run Anaheim's been on there's no way they're going to be passed by the Pens. Colorado meanwhile if they go on a run they could get that last West WC spot(instead of Minnesota), and pass Pitt, they're only 4 back of Pitt now(yes Pitt has 2 games in hand)

Edm, Cgy & Wpg are too close for comfort. Especially with our 1-3 games in hand.

Ideal night. Cgy wins. Leafs lose. Azi/Van go to OT.

Any team from Cbj down I'm still worried about.
