Crazy is an overstatement.

Both head cases in different ways. Which one is better? The crappy teammate or the crappy opponent?

The didn't play enough part sticks out.

Anyway, you should bookmark this to read again after Ben Arfa's first season with Barca.

Ben Arfa clearly isn't coming in to start. If he can keep his head together not playing every week he could be a smart signing, but it could also turn sour it's risky.

Fabinho is a tossup between City, Barca, Arsenal. Price should be aound 25M€. That could include PSG if they get rid of Aurier.

Roma want to keep Digne, but the option is 15M€ and they're trying to get him for 10M. Rejected by PSG who will have to buy a LB if Digne doesn't come back.

Don't see it as risky at all. He's on a free. A player of his talent on a free is never risky.
He might be the most talented player to move this summer and Barca won't have to spend a transfer fee for it. Low risk, high reward.

Free transfers are only risky when teams pay players who haven't done anything in years 100k a week. Klose, Larsson, Lewandowski, Cambiasso, Pirlo, Ballack, Milner (and there's certainly far more) have all been very good free transfers as key players for their new team.

Italian clubs are always doing that. They either want to player at cheaper rate or on loan.

There's definitely risks even if he's "free" I mean what's 5-10 million to these teams? Barca get Ben Arfa he either doesn't perform well or he becomes a distraction off the field... Both have negative impacts on the team. To say getting a player on a free, poses zero risk is extremely short sighted.

Lol, short sighted...

You seems short sighted to not see how big of a reward it could be. His salary will be cheap change.
He doesn't perform? Then don't play him.
He's a fuss in the lockerroom? Then send him home.
OTOH, he plays like he has this year? You get a hard on all year long and eat your words...

So, who's short sighted?

If that happens they have enough money to get rid of him. There's also the China option for disgruntled players now and I'm 100% sure one of those teams would take him if they could get him.

Kicker:

A transfer of Götze to Dortmund is ruled out for now. Liverpool wants him and Juventus is also interested.

Toprak has a release clause of 12M that kicks in in 2017. He'll join Dortmund next summer or this. Subotic might join Besiktas.

Dembele wants to go to Dortmund and only Dortmund.
Fantastic! :handclap:

If he doesn't play that means more minutes for MSN, which puts you right back to square one and one of the reasons why Barca are burnt out to end the year.

Yeah, not until he pisses off half the locker room and probably costs the team X amount of points?

How in the world anyone can look at this singing as all rosy is beyond me. Him being on his best behaviour to get a shot at the Euro's probably plays a bigger part than him maturing.

Which is still a problem, considering there's a few months in between windows.

If you're acknowledging he might not work out then you have to acknowledge the risk he poses.

Nice's president confirms Ben Arfa to Barca is almost done.

More on the Dembélé sweepstakes : player said no to PSG, but EPL teams have been active and are preparing much bigger offers than the ridiculous 15M€ from Dortmund.

It seems there's a very good chance Dortmund outplayed their hand and lost their chance at a phenom because they were trying to lowball Rennes.

Yeah, that sounds like us.

Why would he piss off the lockerroom? Where do you get those stories from? You seem to vastly overrated his character problems.

And again, you don't get a bigger no risk/high reward than this. A supremely talented player for 0€ transfer fee.

Obviously, the risk is that he doesn't pan out. Then cut him in january, case closed.

He's been one heck of a team player this year. Just ask any Nice fan/player/coach/official.

Shocking that we're talking this much about a player who will make no more than €80k a week with no transfer fee cost.

When playing guys like Munir I'm not sure how there's much of an argument that they shouldn't sign Ben Arfa.

Wasting half the season.

Again, that might be because he wants a spot in Euro's

Considering other options, there's definitely an argument against his signing.

Other options that will be happy to sit on the bench almost all the time? Don't know if there are many of those.

Because he is free to sign with any team in the world including ones where he'd surely start and be the key player on that team and would pick to sign with a team that has three of the best attackers in the world.

Under the assumption Ben Arfa would actually make a sound career decision. It could also be the fact that he thinks he can steal a starting spot given the chance.

Im just excited to see who Klopp is going to bring in. Definitely need a new goalie. Think also a new left back and another central midfielder who can be paired with Can. Another attacking player would be nice too, to play where Lallana is( I like him but I feel he should be starting about 10-15 games a year and mainly comes on as a sub).

I see where D2M is coming from, but it's a positive sign that he is willing to come and play for a team where he knows he will play second fiddle to that front three. Him coming on a free is good business, eases up on targeting forwards, and they can spend a bit more towards shoring up the defence.
