--Re: Blind, I think he's best at LB or as a left-sided midfielder. As others have noted, he's not a bad player to have on your bench at the very least. If you've got an aerial threat up top though I you have to consider him a possible staring LB candidate considering his crossing ability. That of course depends on the team and who they currently have at LB. He's on the cover of SPORT and is linked with Barça now. I wouldn't move for him as I think he'll be up there in price and I'd consider other options, but at the right price I wouldn't mind.

--Cover of Mundo Deportivo for Wednesday has Pjanic. Apparently he has a clause in his contract (which apparently goes down further next Summer) for 38 million euros which can be triggered before July 15th.

--MD reporting that Barça reached out to Krychowiak's agent. Not a fan of that idea and I doubt the player would come to be a backup, but if he was a starter you could move Busquets up to CM. Personally I think it's foolish to bother with a backup DM, especially when he'd cost a small fortune, and I'd rely on Samper and Roberto and save the money for a CM.

--Not player related, but IMO it's big news. Monchi has been referred to his contract with Sevilla and will continue with the club. He was linked with Barça some time back, but apparently Premiership clubs were circling. Monchi has accepted the board's decision and will stay with Sevilla. Had he gone elsewhere I think it would have been one of the biggest stories of the Summer.

--Madrid have apparently made a first bid of 50 million for Alaba. Bayern are apparently not interested in entertaining any offers.

--Lazio have apparently agreed terms with Adriano and now all that remains is for Barça to let him go.

--Roma have apparently taken up their option on Rudiger and his contract will go until 2020.

We'll see my how my "filth" sources pan out in a month or so.

Nothing personal against you honestly. But those are the two most widely known as trash sources in England, and one of them in particular offensive to me for obvious reasons. If you aren't aware ask a mod. If you are aware then I don't know why you posting it

He doesn't suck, he's just not a CB in a league where fouls are rarely given against attackers for overpowering and manhandling defenders. He should be playing on a CL team in any league.

This is a real good description of Blind. Though I will say, he is a bit slow and subject to counters. But I think that was more a product of how United played under LVG, rather than squarely on Blind.

I think the Jose is shipping out Blind, Mata, etc storylines are more the English media going up and down the roster and opining on who is a "Mourinho player" than actual concrete rumors. They may very well sell Blind - but I don't think this news is coming from anything but speculation at this stage.

Certainly possible in the case of Blind that it's the media just making up speculation, but you can't really say that about Mata. The dislike between Mata and Mourinho is well publicized and, to me, it would be shocking for Mata to not be sold

Not only are fouls rarely given to attackers, they're also given to defenders much less too, especially on set pieces.

Hilarious that Mourinho thinks he isn't physical enough. Physique is a minor part of defending.

I'd say physicality is a much more important part of being a central defender in the EPL than in the rest of Europe and that's likely to continue until the officiating decides to make a chance (which doesn't appear that there's much broad appeal for)

Erkin to Inter is official. Everything is pointing to the direction that Banega is too. Everyone has basically confirmed it. Those are 2 very good players to get for free. I'm hopeful we can sell Brozovic for the crazy price Inter is asking for him, and use that money to sign a winger to play opposite Perisic. I also hope to keep Murillo. Really enjoyed watching him paired with Miranda last year.

This is definitely the case, and the reason why some of the stronger central defenders have excelled in the EPL while highly touted defenders from other leagues who are known for their ball playing skills have looked rather poor.

Blind really matured and became a good player as a midfielder. If you're asking him to be the primary defensive presence he doesn't have the strength or aerial ability to be as effective there and that goes doubly for CB. His long passes and tempo play are probably his best attributes and he reads the game pretty well but is not overly athletic. I hope United do sell him though...he'd look really good say with PSG, Atletico or Liverpool.

Would be very happy with him playing next to Emre Can at Liverpool. Wouldn't play him at CB though and I doubt Klopp would either. I definitely rate Blind though.

I still think the best way to use Blind is as the left CB in a back 3 on a possession heavy side. Gives him enough cover to make up for his physical limitations, while taking advantage of his passing game as one of the pivots of the team's build up play.

I wonder if Pep will want to bring him across town if Mou decides to ditch him? That citeh roster has few guys that'll fit pep's style without some serious development; but Blind would, with his versatility could help Pep cover a number of spots while he builds a team that can play how he wants them to.

Not that I'd ever trust wenger to be this creative, unless he tries copying Pep (a la Jogi); but if he did try out a back 3: Blind on the left, Kos/Gabe sweeping up in the middle, Chambers pushing up on the right, and Xhaka sitting right in front of them; could really recycle the ball beautifully and open lots of space with their ability to move the ball up the pitch swiftly.

I think it's telling how the fans of Manu rival teams all seem to rate Blind highly

We don't do business with City or Liverpool. The last player who wanted to force a move to Liverpool actually took the matter to court and still got rejected.

Never under-estimate the special one's ego. I wouldn't be surprised if he got a kick out Pep wanting his scraps...if Pep actually was interested in Blind; as I'm sure he has a ton of other targets in mind that wouldn't require dealing with Mou.

Yeah, their players are tainted in my eyes and I'm sure they feel the same about ours. Too bad Blind played for them.

I don't know if it was posted or not, but Dortmund is interested in Bartra. I am DEFINITELY feeling that.

I am also in favor of that.

Kicker also says the following:
Dragovic is out of the running.
22M bid for Toprak was declined, so the club will likely look elsewhere.
Rode will allegedly cost 14M, Guerreiro 10M, and Emre Mor 5M

I guess the Rode signing solidifies Bender at CB. Hopefully that means captain too. I absolutely love his game.

Agreed about Bartra; and Rode, Guerreiro & Mor is a nice start. Though the bigger questions still stand.

Really just need a more established CB and a technical CM I think. Then they can start moving the players they don't want.
