Glad to see this guy knocked out. I guess I'm still salty over Erik Cole's hit 10 years later

With all the evidence about long term impacts of head trauma, I'm not glad to see anyone knocked out, regardless of what I think of them as a player.

Man, maybe I'm getting soft as I age, but I don't remember Philly fans being that bad when I was a kid. Booing Orpik as he was dead to the world (after a good hit), then tossing **** (albeit, maybe just one *******) at Orlov after that boarding? Disgraceful.

Philly has a long history of bad fan behavior...it was so bad they had to build a court and jail in Veterans stadium to address all the buffoonery.

Booing Orpik...didn't Eagles fans do the same thing to Michael Irvin as he was carted off the field ~20 years ago?

Throwing something at Orlov...didn't Phillies fans throw batteries at JD Drew after he didn't sign with them.

The stuff last night was just SSDD.

I definitely wouldn't wish that sort of hit on anyone, but if i HAD to choose someone it'd be him. Just sort of seems like karma has come back to bite him.

Watching that game, it reminded me of other times when a franchise has found itself asking hard questions about its identity and how to move forward. Vancouver in Game 7, Buffalo after the Lucic/Miller thing, Washington after Halak shut them down, Montreal in that 8-1 loss back in '96. Games that force an entire organization and fanbase to look in the mirror and ask themselves what they're really all about.

Whether the Flyers will actually ask those questions or not, I guess that remains to be seen. But when you have people yelling obscenities during a moment of silence and throwing debris at injured players, it's time to take a big step back and reconsider the identity that the organization has forged for itself.

To be fair, there were a couple of obscenities yelled during the moment of silence in Washington (not to imply either is ok, and slightly worse to have happen in Philly).

It's interesting to me how similar the Flyers are to the Canes. One legitimate line. A hodgepodge of "who is that guy" lines. A goalie that can stand on his head for 2/3s of a game, then let in a "what the **** was that" goal. They're just a year or two behind Carolina's young good defense.

Philly has a long history of bad fan behavior...it was so bad they had to build a court and jail in Veterans stadium to address all the buffoonery.

Don't forget about booing Santa and having a good ol' fashioned snowball fight.

At least now a lot of fans are pretty outspoken in condemning that type of ********.

It's an image that a portion of the Philly fan base likes to perpetuate, almost as a badge of honor. The old Oakland Raiders used to be that way also.

Honestly, Philly fans (and the team) lowered themselves to Pittsburgh status after that fiasco. Just nights earlier Lundqvist got booed in Pit after getting stuck in the eye and tending to that on the side. I hate Orpik as well, but short of a few guys (Crosby, Cooke, Bertuzzi, Stevens), I wouldn't want to see that kind of injury for anyone...even then I don't want anyone suffering severe or long term injuries. Bellemare was quite lucky Orlov got up from that hit, incredibly dangerous the way he went into the boards. And the fans totally classless throwing things on the ice, even Simmonds you could tell was annoyed with that. Honestly a game like that the owner/organization needs to see some sort of fine or penalty IMO.

EDIT: On the bright side, it seemed like most of the Philly fans here on HF were equally appalled at the fans actions at the end of that game.

God the fans in our section at the game the other night were singing that for most of the night. At least until they left in the third. There were plenty of decent fans for them there too, but tons of obnoxious ones.

I'd like to think I'd never want to see any player concussed based on what we know now, like BBA said. Except for Scott Stevens. **** that guy.

Love you the back and forth pace of the Rangers pens game so far.

Edit: if the Rangers had defense that could move the puck better, theyd be deadly. Note, don't trade puck moving d to NYR

So Crawford makes a save, Fabbri gets a little shove from Toews and gets pushed into goalie. Crawford gets pissy and goes to fight Fabbri in the corner. Chicago is now on the powerplay. What a ****ing joke.

And they score. These refs are GARBAGE

He torpedoed the Hawks at the worst possible time in the game because he couldn't keep his **** together.

Seriously, that was a Carcillo-esque meltdown.

- Stupid penalty
- Flips off refs
- Looked to say a slur in box
- Starts skirmish after game

Actually, I don't even think Carcillo would do that.

While your guys were watching who we shouldn't acquire, I was watching Frederick Andersen post up an 18 save shutout. For crying out loud, he took a slapshot to the facemask by Shea Weber in the 2nd period and still managed to make every save. I would look hard at Andersen this offseason, despite the controversies with his agent.

Seeing Chicago and Detroit on the brink so early is awesome.

I just want someone to take out the Caps and the NYR/PIT winner next round.

Would like to see one of Florida, Tampa, or the Isles come out of the East. I don't care who wins the West as long as it's not Chicago.
