I'm only ever going to able to watch the playoffs on the weekends this year. Probably going to watch NYR v Pens Friday, and catch the Florida game on Sat. I'd like to see Florida to do well this year.

Luon5o is just not the same without hordes of angry Canucks fans going ballistic at a simple name.

I wish I could embed the entire Chicago-Blues, Game 1 into a post via youtube whenever another "We need moar goalz!!!!" thread pops up...and I don't even have a strong opinion one way or the other.

I can't wait till the first round of the playoffs are over to see how dead wrong my bracket was.

Yeah, I'm failing to see the outrage and controversy (not just here, but twitter and such). I think they got both calls easily right (pic up there is plain as day to me). Can't wait to see what happens when they actually make a controversial call.

Just checked the rulebook actually, and you guys are right, your skate needs to be behind or touching the line.

I thought as long as your skate was above the line you were fine.

I also see lots of angst out there about the NHL being a joke with all the reviews, how close they are, how they are so based on judgment calls. It's like they've never watched any other sports where it's exactly the same freaking thing. The NFL for example has things that are the thinnest of margins called all the time and reviews that take forever, and things like catches that nobody understands. MLB has had a a very rocky start to this year with a new review rule. It's nothing new.

I don't always agree with the calls on the reviews for offside or interference, and I'm not a huge fan of something that takes goals away. But it seems like something everyone should be used to at this point. But hey, "Oh my God, what happens if the Cup winning goal gets challenged?????" (Hull, Kane, it's been done)

^ yeah, thats the only real way to determine that someone is still onside. Allowing hovering over the blueline could bring judgement into it as far as where the players foot is. So you have to have part of your skate actually in contact (blade or boot only, knee/pants/etc don't count). A lot of young players will try to "jump" the line on close calls at the blueline, one of the first things you learn when taking a ref clinic is that's a bad idea.

Definitely offside, definitely no interference. Did we get to see any of the new camera angles, or is the pic above what it is?
