Gravel is also still waiver exempt. I think Dowd has to clear waivers, Forbort also has to clear.

If Greene is healthy he will be in the lineup, the Kings never replaced what he actually does well.

Lots of competition at camp, few spots, which is exactly what you want.

Maybe a more interesting bottom six.

King/Shore/Brown
Andy/Dowd/Mersch.

I feel like the Kings think Kyle Clifford has some untapped potential to break out (for some inexplicable reason).

They probably look back at his 5 points in 6 games in the 2010 playoffs and his last season in the OHL where he was just about a point per game player and had a very productive playoff that year with the Colts.

I don't know what the hell happened to him after those brief glimpses of promise, but it seems like the blows to the head have hurt him more than anything.

No idea what's with that.

The Kings development staff constantly bring up Clifford/Moller as an example of bad development with young players.

I think Clifford would have been a more rounded player with 100-150 AHL games under his belt.

you forgot Lewis

this camp is going to be awesome and ultra competitive for the depth guys. with all the guys at the world cup they are going to have more ice time. it's going to be interesting for sure.

has to be some movement with latta, shore, dowd and mersch all going for the chance to play clifford, nolan, andreoff and king off the roster to possibly only ride the bench since there will likely only 3 or 4 spots for those 8 guys.

clifford and king have to be looking at their contracts in comparison to their competition and feeling the axe coming in the cap game.

I think Lombardi was thinking that Clifford would score more and Cap would be higher when he signed him. 1,6mil for the minutes Clifford`s on ice is bad cap management. Andreoff does almost the same job for 1mil less and is more versatile as he can play center.

Clifford had zero business being in the NHL at 19, but the Kings probably felt he was to physically mature for the OHL. Ofcourse the CHL cartel who claims to be for "The players best interests" won't allow NHL teams to even have a single 19 year old play in the AHL.

Clifford just never learned how to be an effective offensive player, never got the proper development at the AHL level, never got to dominate junior like he probably could have as a 19 year old.

No game sense offensively, no creativity. He is nothing more than a chip and chase fourth line player, and it's sad, because he probably could have been more had his development not been botched.

I loved bertuzzi, john leclair and wendel clark and he showed a little bit of the best in all 3 before the concussions. coulda, shoulda, woulda.

Which is why it's time to move on from Clifford. Some team will try and use him as a reclamation project, but the Kings need to go with cheaper options. Get a 2nd or a 3rd from some team looking for a tough vet who thinks he's still got 15-15 potential and move on.

The Kings used a 2nd round pick on him, he's now a reclamation project, and Lombardi will somehow get a similar 2nd or 3rd round pick back for him? I know GM's can do weird things sometimes, but that seems like it's hoping for a lot.

This is what Arizona and GM John Chayka did with Vermette case. Give playing time to youth and their cheap contracts.

i agree. there was a market for martin, boll, weise and kassian the colonel is a better option than all. I think he ends up being chosen by LV if he doesn't get moved.

agreed think King can maybe return a later 2nd round pick, Clifford a late 3rd early 4th.
