2016 LA Kings Offseason GDT V: Free Agent Frenzy

Grew up a Rams fan at the time of my birth in the early 70's the old blue and white uniforms and Roman Gabriel as their QB.I was just a infant when i got Gabriel's autograph.Our family supported the Rams way way before the 70's and 49ers much later around 79 and Rams until 95 and just the niners when the Rams left.Mix feelings about the Rams coming back and not able to root for them anymore..Excited to see the team back,like seeing a old friend,but its not the same as it once was.

I looked at pre season tickets for a game vs Dallas and cheapest ticket was $90.

big thin to me is who would you rather have Schenn for 2 years or Gilbert for 1.

i prefer neither

have you actually seen Gilbert play last year?

if you think Schenn is bad

trust me you guys will complain about Gilbert

People are gonna complain about a soft defensemen, coming off major knee surgery at the end of February, who might not be ready for training camp, hasn't scored a power play point since 2013-2014 and had a goal and assist in 45 games played last season? The hell you say?

• **************: We recently heard there is mild interest on Zdeno Chara, and the Boston Bruins have indeed received recent calls from the Dallas Stars and LA Kings regarding Big Z. While we cannot confirm the offer which was discusse or the imminency of the deal, we can say the Bruins asking price is a Top 6 Def & Prospects. While we get more info here are a few trade ideas.

not sure i would do it but interesting Figured i saw this and we needed something new to discuss lol
 
Who ends up having an up year, and who ends up having a down year? Happens every season to at least a couple guys either way to varying degrees.
 
Chara to the Kings makes sense roster wise, but we'd need them to retain. And of course, we don't have a lot of assets to part with.
 
I could see boston moving Chara, but don't really see the Kings spending a lot for him. 6.9M this year, 4 next year. It would be different if the Kings were all in... but they look like they're in, wait and see what the youth do, mode.

Value wise McNabb is probably too much to give up. 2 years left, turning 40 in March, and the Kings not looking at making a run.... I wouldn't want to give up more then Greene and a long shot NHL prospect on D for Chara.

Maybe Chara could help McNabb/Forbort/Gravel in their development. That's about the only reason I could see bringing him on.
 
No thanks to Chara. I'd rather DL go after Vermette now that he's on waivers, he'd make a good 3C for us.
 
Count me in on getting Chara. Our D is still lacking a top 4 defenseman, and although Chara is 39, I think our system would benefit him greatly. We would have to send back a defenseman or 2, seeing as how we have way too many at the moment. Greene, King, Forbort for Chara?
 
I'd take Chara at 50% off, but I'd be very afraid of what we were sending the other way to get him at that price.

He is worn down, but is still a very effective defenseman and better than most of what we are icing now.
 
After Boston flipped Jones to the Sharks, I'd be surprised DL would pick up the phone if they called.

Assistant: Mr.Lombardi, Boston is on the phone"
Lombardi: "Tell them to pound sand"
Assistant: "Mr.Lombardi has informed me to tell you to pound sand"

We were in on Chara back in the day , maybe Dean wants to bring in some sort of veteran presence to help bring along the kids but where is this rumor coming from ?

I also think Chara would be a great fit in our system even though he's in the end of his career
