Good deal for Schenn imo especially as a REAL depth guy.

Yotes will have to make some moves though, that gives them 8 (or 9?) guys that can't be waived and a buttload on one-way deals.

So if he was this cheap and we didn't resign , do you think that mean DL has enough faith that gravel and forbert are at least ready to step in, he was a liability at times but has been a nhl level dman

We've got to bring up our defense men, or we'll keeping losing them to waivers. I know Gravel isn't there yet, but we need to be able to bring up the sub-million dollars guys or we'll continue to have cap issues.

I think it means Greene is relatively healthy and Schenn and Greene are redundant if nothing else.

Greene is better than Schenn, Greene is an Excellent PK specialist, also can actually clear the front of the net. Provided Greene can stay healthy.

I don't disagree. Maybe I should have said it another way, Greene makes Schenn redundant, not vice-versa.

From what I saw in the 10-12 games I saw in Ontario last year gravel is pretty close and he mostly played the off wing moves the puck pretty well and if Greene is back that would be a pretty good 3 rd pairing

Greene is the junk yard dog, he's mean and he likes to play that style. Schenn lacks that nastiness. We just have to hope Greene has worked on his foot speed this summer.

Also good for the Kings and every other Pacific Division team.

I haven't seen a player who is better at screening his own goalie than Luke Schenn. A true talent.

he's just not very good in too many areas, I went hoarse hollering at the TV watching him for far too many yrs in PHilly while JVR racked up goals for Toronto. Terrible trade.
He's was filler because Greene was out and the DL felt the team could go deep. I never expected him to be signed. The Kings need to bring up one of the AHL D to get their minutes in and develop.

Speaking of LS...curious comment about his time in LA. Pressure comes with the job, the league, if you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

Luke Schenn: "I'm looking forward to coming to a market where I can just worry about playing hockey and not outside added pressure."

You sure he was talking about his time in L.A. and not Philly? I think the fans and media pretty much left him alone in L.A. or were low-key.

Plus, I don't put too much stock into what players who were just drafted to or traded to say in their initial interviews when they have to think of something to show their excitement about coming to the new team.

Referring to Toronto and Philly most likely.

Don't have a bad word to say about Schenn, met him over all star break, super nice guy. Kings have other options on D and don't have the cap room for him whether it would have worked out or not. Gilbert is a different type of player and only got a one year deal.

Maybe he was alluding to the pressure to win a 3rd cup with the Kings? There's pressure for every team though, so that's not going to change no matter where you go. I'm sure he was referring to Philly/Toronto though...

Let's over-analyzie Schenn's comments for the next few days... looking forward to everyones thoughts. Love summer!

Let's make passive aggressive comments that contribute nothing...not looking foward to any of your thoughts. I love summer!

I would have been ok with Schenn coming back. I wasn't one of the hyper-critical ones here on anything related to our defense. Kind of surprised he came that cheap. Good signing for the Yotes. Good luck to him.

Greene's foot speed is never going to be good or average.

What you do want is Someone clearing the net in front of Quick on that Third pairing; someone also good on the walls, retrieve pucks , hand to puck mover.

Greene can handle that, for 12-14 minutes a night, also play the PK.

The Kings never replaced what Greene is good at, and got shredded by SJ for it. Pavelski on the PP, setup shop in front of Quick all day long, sipping kool-aid/eating sandwiches.

I'll take anything. Bloggers are on vacation, news is slow. Sigh. Who was the genius who came up with the idea of an offseason?

I'm looking forward to some mean Matt Greene.
