Gilbert is just this years Errorhoff. But what can you do, no cap space, very few quality prospects.

Hate to say it but the Kings window is probably shut. Lombardi's decisions since June 2014 have just made it impossible for this team to truly contend. Can't complain, hell of a 3 year run, wouldn't trade it for the world

Spot on. Lombardi was very trigger-happy after the 2nd cup and re-signed everyone to reward them and out of loyalty to his players; it bit him in the you know what.

Re-signing Gaborik, Greene and keeping Mike Richards has been a mess. Dustin Brown's contract also looks like a huge mess.

THEN trading a first and McKeown for Sekera at the deadline, even though he wasn't sure whether Sekera would re-sign. And last summer trading a first, Colin Miller and Martin Jones for one year of Lucic.

I love Dean Lombardi with all my heart and will always back him up but it's becoming more and more difficult to do.

Caps fan checking in re: Latta. You guys will like him a lot. He is short in stature but strong as an ox and isn't afraid to drop the gloves. He's not the fastest skater but he's got surprisingly decent hands. He can definitely be a solid 4C.

inner-turmoil/bad cap condition? inner turmoil because Brown has fallen off the proverbial cliff and didnt deserve to be a captain? unless you are in the locker room, who are you to say there is inner turmoil? as far as the cap goes, there are PLENTY of other teams in similar or worse situations. sometimes I wonder why some Negative Nancys are even fans with the way they choose to see things. blows my mind

VL retired so we have a 3C hole, and our problems on defense did not get solved, instead we got two Erhoff like signings. So yes, we are not contenders and have a borderline chance of even making the playoffs considering how much Edmonton and other teams in the Pacific improved.
