definitely happy to have him if we fall to 5.

Very likely he will be gone at 4, PL Dubois has had an excellent season but Tkachuk's season and trajectory has been much better. Tkachuk also outscored Laine at the U18s last year.

Im in the minority but I would have no problem with us taking Juolevi at 6.

I don't have an issue with it either, he has top pairing potential and we need that. I don't have a problem with any of the top rated D man at 6th.

Pretty big snore to endure the season we did to come out with Juolevi. Good, steady all around defender, not elite at any one thing...not physical, not overly offensive...but solid, good at an overall game. Any team could use him, but like I said not very exciting to walk away from the lottery from after a long, long year. Sounds like a young Hamhuis to me. Would like to see an impact player both from a team and entertainment standpoint

if there are five defencemen available at six and you "like them all", him picking one at six instead of ten is very bad

edit: or wherever you can trade to

Yea I agree he's not very exciting, but if he becomes a Hamhuis, that's a #1D man and one when he was out of our line up it was known. I'm being positive and we'll get a top 3 pick! That's what we need. But if we pick 6th, their all so close, want exciting draft Sergachev or Bean if you go D, Chychrun could make for a good show will he bust or bloom.

I agree but if you're drafting 6th overall, getting a young Hamhuis is pretty damn good. Thats basically what the Ducks got with their 6th pick in 2012 and not one of their fans is upset with the pick. In fact, they all are thrilled by the pick.

To me, he isn't a sexy or exciting prospect but for the long-term he is somebody you would be ecstatic to have. Not the game breaker you want after a terrible season but a good piece. I have a feeling that this isn't the Canucks only high pick in the near future and depending where they pick, a pick like that isn't the worst thing in the world.

I'll be very upset if we select Chychrun at #5. If we're at #5 and Dubois is available, you go with Dubois. Period. I actually have Dubois listed at #4 on my personal prospect list.

1) Matthews
1a) Laine
3) Puljiujarvi
4) Dubois

I actually think Laine is the Top prospect (slightly better than Matthews in my opinion), but I'd personally select Matthews over Laine due to the position that Matthews plays (and due to his center position, would be more likely to elevate linemates as opposed to Laine).

I'm not the biggest fan of Tkatchuk, Chychrun, Juolevi, or anyone else ranked below #4. If we finish at #5/#6 and my "Big 4" are gone, I consider moving the pick to Anaheim for Sami Vatanen.

I don't have a horse in the race, I just thought it was curious that people seemed happy there were no dmen ranked in the top 6 when the prospect vote went the way it did.

If DeBrincat is available late 20s what do you guys think about trading up to get him?

Back to back 50 goal, 100 point seasons in the O at his age is just so good.

Cam Atkinson and Mats Zuccarelo are 5'7'' as well and they both had over 50 points, and neither of them dominated junior like DeBrincat at 16 or 17. I honestly don't see how DeBrincat won't become a decent NHLer.

There is a talent disparity, yes, but also a game disparity. Laine is clearly a 1way player. That's what should temper the upside expectations for him. This is even present when comparing Malkin to Ovechkin alone, it matters.

I've only seen highlights but he's created many turnovers this playoffs. Would not call him strictly one way, or a defensive liability.

So I have Laine and Matthews even now and still a part of me thinks Puljujarvi belongs right up there with Laine and Matthews.. Tkachuk is playing lights out in London and I love Dubois's game.. If we get one of these 5 players i'm very happy. I'm even very happy with Nylander

I'd be surprised if he gets picked in the first round.

I don't think any team is going to risk a 1st rounder on him at his size.

For me I think I have Laine slightly ahead of Matthews now.

I never thought I'd say that, but I never thought Laine would win playoff MVP. What he has done since the start of the World Juniors until now is more impressive than Matthews.

I don't know if Im correct in my assessment of Laine being #1, but I do know that a top 2 pick in this draft is, for all intents and purposes, a 1st overall pick.

Gotta remember Jordan Schroeder though... Highest junior scorer ever for the US... Yet he turned out to be nothing but a journeyman at best. I love DeBrincat, but I don't think you risk trading up for him... If he's there, great... Take a chance, but don't spend assets to do so.
