1st would be better cause of this

Matthews >> Laine >> Pulji

I'm not even sure there's a difference between the top 3, all of them are so close, I think Laine has the biggest potential, kid just looks like a superstar. If I'm picking 1st, I'm thinking I'd lean towards Laine tbh

from what i've heard from Benning recently, it really doesn't sound like he is taking a defenseman from any of the positions we might land.

Who's the 6th forward though? I still think Juolevi is a superior prospect at this point to any of Jost, Brown, Keller, Nylander. I see BMac's people has Nylander there but I highly doubt Benning would have him there.

Agree with most of what you say. I find Pulju to be very difficult to project and cannot find a comparable for him either.

I don't think you are delusional on Brown's speed. He gets where needs to go. He just 'looks' slow to me. Lumbering. Heavy feet like Jones has heavy feet. But I could be getting caught up in that without recognizing his skating efficiency. He gets there.

I think the biggest thing with Brown's speed and skating, is that he'll go into phases where he just doesn't move his feet. Not only makes him look slow, but makes him actually play slow.

Has some sluggish acceleration that could use some work to begin with, but definitely exacerbates it when he stops moving his feet. Starts just leaning on guys, rather than using the size+speed to power through guys (which he can do when he's on). Still works darn well in Juniors when you're six and half feet tall and have 40+ lbs on a lot of defenders. But it's my biggest concern with Logan Brown. That he sometimes slumps into kind of "lazy", low-tempo hockey - which makes him look like a worse skater than he really is.

Once he actually gets rolling though and keeps his feet moving, he covers a lot of ground quickly. It's the part of Brown's game that really reminds me a lot of Rick Nash. Where he's had stretches of disinterested play where he doesn't really look like a great skater at all. But when he's on and raises the pace of his whole game...he can really get moving and becomes extremely difficult to handle. I think Brown can be the same way, and does have that freight train speed/momentum when he decides to use it.

It would take all of Toronto, Edmonton, and Vancouver to lose the draft lottery for the Canucks to pick 6th. More likely we get 4 or 5.

He also looks like Rick Nash...has anyone seen these guys in a room together? Or has Rick been sneaking off to be above average at junior hockey

"The top 6 players in this draft are ALL FORWARDS"

:phew::phew:

This is good news.I just see too much risk factor in each of the top 3 D to feel comfortable drafting one of them with what will likely be our highest pick in 17 years.

I feel the top 6 forwards are all much safer bets and all will become impact NHLers, barring unforeseen circumstances.

We have a very high chance of drafting either Pierre Luc Dubois or Matthew Tkachuk.

What about Vancouver born Russian Boris Katchouck? Any chance he falls to 33rd?

Despite what EliteProspects says he apparently doesn't have Russian citizenship nor speaks very much Russian.

But I do think there's a good chance he's around for the 33rd pick, unless someone pulls a Boston with him :sarcasm:.

Would love to have Tkachuk, Canucks could use a big, skilled LW to replace Daniel.

He only had two points less than Laine in the U20, and has been scoring at a phenomenal rate at every level. USA Hockey and London Knights utilize him as a first line player which can only help his development.
