Got a reply today from the NHL Draft Simulator guy. He's fixed the problem, so the odds for 2/3 should now be correct.

Impact on Canucks is that they will now get #2/#3 the correct % of the time in the simulator in cases where Edmonton gets #1, when they previously were always getting shut out. The will get #2/#3 slightly less often however in cases where Toronto gets #1.

If draisatl and monahan were in this draft, where would you rank them in top 6 just base on their hype and plays/stats before joining the nhl?

How do u18 Team Canada selections work? Wouldn't someone like Jake Bean be eligible to play? If so, why isn't he on the team? Are all 98 borns able to play? I would expect a lot more top end draft eligible players to be on the team.

Broken foot for Bean

My board as of now:

Laine
Matthews
Puljujarvi
Dubois
Tkachuk
Juolevi

Jost
McAvoy
Chychrun
Sergachev

I wonder if we were to win the 1st overall if Benning would choose Laine over Matthews. I would imagine there would be a lot of upset people.

I would be pretty ticked.

Matthews simply is better then Laine. But I do not think Matthews is that much better then Laine. So it's not like picking Senyshyn over Conner bad. Senyshyn wasn't even better then Speers last year.

I wouldn't be so sure. Laine is carrying his team to a champsionship (hopefully) as a 18 year old (been less than a week) in a top tier mens league. What he is doing is pretty unheard of. Matthews is a center, but I could definitely see Laine being taken over him 1st overall. Hopefully he has a big game 6 and wins the championship and then has a big tournament at the WHC. It's definitely not as clear cut as you make it out to be. Laine's improvement over the last year has been immense and exactly what you want in a prospect. He's going to be working hard on his explosiveness this summer too.

than for comparison , then in relation to time

I'm sure you also did this a million times, I just again ran the simulator at least 30 times this time, it was not to see how many times we get the 1st pick, this is to see how many times, Vancouver, Toronto, and Edmonton loses out in the lottery (which we will for sure pick 6) and I can tell you, we finished in the top 3 far more time then we finishing 6th. I think only 3 or 4 times, we ended up with 6.
We have the odds. It shouldn't require running a simulator a bunch of times to realize that 34% odds are more likely than 14% odds.

Enough with the simulator stuff, people-- it adds nothing.

What matthews did is pretty damn unreal too.

4th in goals despite only appearing in 72% of the games. 10th in points.

Sure, Laine has been fantastic in the playoffs.

But in terms of being the complete package Matthews takes the cake.

That being said, I wouldn't be that upset taking Laine first overall. As I said before I do not think the difference between Laine and Matthews is that great.
