you are not going to get a 12 to 22 pick for hansen. perhaps if you add in the 33rd pick you would probably be able to move up with Hansen but not alone.

I think you may be underestimating Hansen in the eyes of other GMs. Teams included in that group are teams that expect to be pushing for a high playoff run and their GM will value a player who can contribute now much more than a draftee who may not be NHL ready until that GM is long gone from that team.

Of the list of players I'd like us to get two of, Benson and Johansen are my favorates.

Enough with posting draft lottery simulator results.

This draft has a lot of good prospects and some who will get drafted after we draft will be the steals of the draft but let's not forget, we are getting a very good prospect where we draft. Sure Jost, Keller, Bean, Fabbro, and some other prospects would be great too but getting one of Matthews, Laine, Puljujärvi, PLD or Tkachuck will be great.

I am liking the idea of picking Jost 6th. Is Benning at the juniors watching?

Apparently Brown is way up too now on a lot of lists i gotta say dont know much about him

Just ran the simulator and got what i think is the perfect

Vancouver
Boston
Toronto

Isn't a mandatory tradition that the Oilers must always pick first so if we win the lottery Bettman is required to open the entry draft by announcing "I wish to announce a trade" "Vancouver trades their first round pick in the 2016 entry draft to Edmonton for Zack Kassian and Edmonton's 3rd round in the 2019 entry draft" "Edmonton you are up, please announce your pick"

:sarcasm: :D

maybe i am but just looking back through previous drafts there aren't a whole lot of comparable players where teams trade high end draft picks right before the draft for someone like Hansen or any players.

Milan Lucic - 1st and Jones

Dougie Hamilton - 1st and 2 2nds

Ryan O'reilly for 2nd zadorov, grigorenko, compher

Ryan Kesler for 23rd and Bonino

Schneider for 1st

Jordan Staal for 1st +

Semyon Varlamov for 1st

Jeff Carter for 1st plus

Troy Brouwer for 26th overall

Brent Burns + 2nd for Setoguchi, Coyle, 28th pick

Andrew Ladd for 2nd(36th pick)

Nathan Horton for 1st

David Rundblad for 1st(16th pick Vladimir Tarasenko, hah)

Ballard for 1st + Grabner

Chris Pronger for multiple 1sts and young players

Brouwer is the closest comparable for me and he was in his mid-20s at the time

If we draft Puljujarvi we'd have a lot of big potential top 6 right wingers... Puljujarvi, Boeser and Virtanen.

Ryan Oreilly (along with Mcginn) was traded for Zadorov Grigorenko Compher and a second.

Virtanen can play either wing, but we also have Rodin coming next season, Grenier developing and I wonder if Subban might not be better suited to play as a forward in the NHL.

Virtanen and Puljujarvi together might be a great combo, Puljujarvi being more of a play maker with Virtanens shot.

...just wondering, would most people prefer a guaranteed 3rd spot for the Canucks instead of taking the current lottery odds between 1 and 6?

I would be happy to just stay where we are with no lottery risk or reward

Nah Subban is at best a defenseman like Krug, undersized with a good shot and offensive skills but will need to be sheltered because of that size and his defensive ability

Boeser and Virtanen can both play the left side.

Knew about Virtanen, didn't know Boeser played left side as well. As much as I like Laine better, if we miss out on Matthews, Puljujarvi would fit this group better, we have some shooters in Virtanen and Boeser, we could use a big play maker that can set Virtanen or Boeser up.

Ahh yes, Schroeder - Hodgson - Rodin, our top line of the future!

We'll have our own mini Toews and Kane!

Crazy game to watch, i was pulling for the Finns though and thought they took the momentum in the 3rd.

Lindgren looked very good and steady. Also created a lot more chances than i've seen in the past. He looked like the best defender today.

2nd line for the USA looked the best. They were the most dangerous.

Krys with a dangerous two-handed slash on Jesse's hands at the end. Maybe his tournament is over, but i hope not. He went to the trainer almost right away.
