Poor guy...one game back and he's already behind Dowd/Lewis. :sarcasm:

Interesting bit: I found that Lewis has been with the Kings for 9 years. That's a LONG time.

He's got 3 more years on his current contract!

If you get a chance, check out Kings Weekly and his interview with Bob Miller.Good to hear him be honest about his skills and how he had to change to make it into the NHL.Also, even he thought he was drafted too high.

Uh oh. Teddy Purcell was just pulled from a meet and greet today. Go speculation go!

I don't put any weight into that kinda stuff. But in order for Andreoff to be taken off IR someone has to go, and Andreoff said he's cleared to play. So a roster move is likely coming soon.

Well that's certainly who I'd choose to yank off the stage with a hook.

Kings twitter said a few minutes ago he is going to an event today but it was delayed 2.5 hours.

What about Staal in New York? It would save the rangers a protection spot if he waives for LA.

No. Here's my reasoning. Steal is a L shooting D. I am perfectly happy lining up Muzzin, McNabb, Forbort as my top 3 LHD. The incremental benefit of Staal over McNabb or Forbort at a $4MM cap hit doesn't fit with this team.

On the other side of the equation, we have a hard enough time scoring goals and finding a decent (much less 2 decent) wingers for Kopitar. Even if Gaborik is past his prime, he still can put a few pucks in the net (hopefully).

So basically, you trade away something you need (goal scoring), for something we are extremely deep (LHD). This doesn't even consider Gravel.

When Kings are healthy someone has to be moved...They will have 3 extra forwards and 2 extra D and they can only have 3 total spare players. Typically, the Kings go with 2 forwards and 1 D.

I assume Gravel does to Ontario, but what happens at forward???

King-Kopitar-Lewis
Pearson-Carter-Toffoli
Brown-Dowd-Setoguchi
Gaborik-Shore-Nolan
Extras: Clifford, Andreoff, Purcell

Doughty-Forbort
Muzzin-Martinez
McNabb-Greene
Extras: Gilbert, Gravel

By the way, why is Nick Shore playing still? 21 games, 0 goals, 3 assists and -2? Jesus.

PS Dustin Brown is a -8.

We have no better option to play the 4th line center than Shore. AA is not good at center, but is a great bottom 6 winger. Lewis is also not good on the draw to play 4th line center.

Shore isn't winning all that many faceoffs this year, but yeah, he's certainly better than Lewis doing it, and was better than Andreoff last year too. And he gets thrown in there in SH situations sometimes too.

Nick Shore is still playing because there is no better option at 4C, and there is no one in the AHL better than Shore(for 4C), or ready.

Shore doesn't hurt the Kings at 4C.

Your not going to call up Kempe and play him at 4C(he is struggling mighty anyway right now)

I'll say it again, Purcell needs to be waived, the guy is not an NHL player anymore.

Pretty much this. There's nothing wrong with Shore. He's a pretty good player, just doesn't have the offense at the NHL level. There's nothing wrong with having someone competent on defense that can fill in up the lineup in case of injury, see Lewis.

The team needs guys that are solid on defense and have trouble putting up numbers. Those contracts will be cheaper. Can't afford a team of Toffoli's/Pearson's...

You guys are stressing out too much... Lewis or King gets bumped down, Nolan sits, Someone gets sent to Ontario. Purcell/Gravel, someone else... whatever.

ah man, hfboards never lets me down

I don't see the kings (or anyone else for that matter) making any significant move for a guy with term due to the expansion draft. Why trade assets for a guy when there is a good chance Vegas will choose him? Then we're out the assets and the player. And we don't have the assets to do that.

Free agency 2018 is a different matter. I can see the Kings making a move then. Maybe a very big move if Vegas cooperates.

I want to throw up every time I see this. The only way it could be worse if you you switched Lewis with Nolan.

The -3 vs Minn and -4 against the Avs will do that. The third line combined in those 2 games was -18

The youth has to cooperate as well by making someone expendable. I don't think our pipeline is crappy, but there just isn't anyone that appears ready for the jump yet. Kempe is struggling. LaDue is as well after having a great camp, which is common for guys just breaking in. Amadio is showing signs but it still a year out at the very least. I'm not completely confident that Mersch can be a regular.

Brodzinski intrigues me though. He's still raw, but he plays smart. I wouldn't mind seeing him reunited with Dowd eventually for a shot on that 3rd line. It's borderline blasphemy to breakup that line, but someone is going to have to play with Kopi and Gaborik who can actually be effective, and Brown has some positive history there.
