2016-2017 Kings Roster Talk Part III

Sheesh guys, settle down. Of course it's a joke, referring to the post where Toffoli was inadvertently left off the proposed lineup and then was commented on by another member. I never thought anyone would take it seriously, especially since the season isn't over yet. Really, sorry for upsetting anyone, although such a reaction shows how passionate and disappointed people are for the team and how far the Kings have sunk in the NHL pecking order that such a boondoggle would be thought real. Oh, Aprii Fools Day never crossed my mind, that would be mean.

Yeah, hardly perfect, no stat is, but within the context of just the Kings, I thought it was interesting. It's another way to look at things. That's the problem when the team doesn't win. It's like idle hands. You just find ways to nitpick. This game, that game, 5 goals here, 5 goals there, it all could've made a difference.

You can do it with Kane too. His $10.5m cap hit, and the Hawks 221 goals this year, Kane should've scored 32 of them up to this point based on his cap hit%. He's got 33. Toews has the same number, but has just the 20 goals. So like you said, it's not a science, I was just using it with goals, not intangibles, or overall points, or whatever else.

Just playing with numbers. Plus it's another way to rip on Kopitar, which I think we've all come to enjoy doing. It's cathartic.

You are reading too much into it! There is zero reason any of it should have been taken seriously. ****ing expansion protection lists aren't even in play yet since, like you said, the season isn't even over.

And teams are not required to release them so don't expect to see any of them.
 
Brown -Kopitar - Toffoli

Pearson - Carter - Brodzinski

Mersch - Kempe - Gaborik

Andreoff - Dowd - Lewis

Kopitar gets a sniper and a Brownie that rediscovered crashing the net
Carter loses Toffoli but adds Brodzinski who was a really good shot and seems to be at the right place at the right time... JDub like
Kempe plays best at center and adds a better version of DK, a goalie blocking, garbage diving body plus a former sniper in Gabo
Dowd gets speed and toughness in his line...
Not the greatest but at this point it's probably all we can afford after signing our RFAs

That is a line up that is screaming for a complete rebuild.

only way we rebuild is to moved..

Jeff Carter- a lottery 1st, a top Prospect and a current NHL player, preferably a Dman

Jake Muzzin- a 1st rounder and a top prospect

Alec Martinez- 2nd rounder and a young winger

an thats about the end of what could be our rebuild....

Kopitar goes nowhere because of the contract

Brown and Gaborik are contractual poison

Doughty..well you just don't trade away a franchise defenseman period..

so whether or not that lineup screams rebuild.. its not going to happen...
 
Just remember everyone the road to the Stanley Cup included picks #4, #2, and #5 overall.
 
Trade a pick and Muzzin (preferably) or Martinez for Landeskog, lose Dowd/Bishop to LV, Iginla retires, sign FA backup and cheap veteran D?

Well in addition to moving those guys you could trade Clifford, Lewis and McNabb, and buyout Gaborik.

I don't mind most moves tossed around here, but I hate the idea of losing Lewis. He is a very above average bottom 6'er who is the perfect utility player that can be placed anywhere and who has a great contract.

He's the least of the Kings problems. Ideally he would be a 4th line RW and PK specialist. I'd only move him if they absolutely needed to clear cap space but he's fine in the role he plays. Don't blame him for Sutter putting him on Kopitar's line.
 
There are a lot of RFA signings for the Kings this summer: Toffoli, Pearson, Brodzinksy, LaDue, Gravel, Andreoff, and Shore. I wonder what LaDue will want? Trying to do a cap space calculation for next season.

The only guys out of that group that will get a substantial raise are Toffoli and Pearson. I'd bet Brodzinski, LaDue, Gravel, Andreoff, and Shore are all under a million.
 
Carter to the Canadiens for Sergachev, Fucale, and a 1st.

Carter to the Rangers for Buchnevich, Halverson and a 1st. Can take back Nash's last year if they want to dump his salary.

Muzzin to the Stars for Devin Shore, 1st and a prospect.

Muzzin to the Leafs for Kapanen and a 1st.

Martinez to the Panthers for Pysk and a 2nd.


Some ideas.
