Until Kempe, only one forward was brought up from Ontario: Nic Dowd. That's not an opinion.

That's all his own doing.

Anyhow, this first game back from the break sure inspires a lot of confidence.

I guess, we have had young Dmen brought in quite successfully though. Forbort and Gravel are newbies.

Part of that is due to our draft m o, They like dmen and and blue collar players, which are perhaps more available where we have been drafting lately (those sexy centers and wingers arent as plentiful in the later rounds unless they're midgets or from outer mongolia)

Sorry, but I agree with Reaper on Martinez. A trade involving Martinez for a young forward saves cap space and allows a younger, cheaper defenseman providing relatively the same level of performance to move into the lineup.

I think its easier to replace Muzzin's role than Martinez's with the current crop of young defensman we have and Muzzin has more trade value.

This Kings team needs a Pallfy-type trade. They are listless from the GM all the way down. Just doesn't seem to be any fight except for a few brief moments during games if you're lucky. The bottom 6 is full of redundant players, players who lack the skill necessary to create offense in the NHL or shut the opposition down defensively. The top 6 seems to lack any sort of fire or drive, they go out there, generate shots from bad scoring areas or pass the puck to the point for shots that rarely make it on net and if they do are high or wide. Bad team man, bad ******* team.

If you are not skilled and you are not gritty, what the hell are you? Unfortunately the answer is the 16-17 L.A. Kings

Either way it doesn't matter. You can move the older Martinez or the younger Muzzin, but it's obvious one needs to go. Maybe even both.

those deals come along once or twice a decade in the league, let alone for one team.

Gaborik is awful. Can't believe DL gave him a 7 year deal. Makes me sick.

Hoven and Bernstein have been saying the same thing - Kings have been stale and should be calling guys up from Ontario like Chicago. Why was Setoguchi here? Why is King still here? Why do we need Clifford, Andreoff and Nolan? Why is Shore even in the NHL?

King and Clifford should be dealt. Shore is cheap, so are AA and Nolan. Unfortunately everyone has been neutered by Sutter. No emotion. And unfortunately no one else seems to be ready to take their spots.

i'm so over King, just a big body, we need skill.

I often forget that Dwight King is a member of the team. He provides nothing out there.

If Lombardi is smart he'll cash in his King chip at the deadline. His playoff pedigree alone could nab the Kings a 2nd. Then some team will overpay for him in free agency in the offseason. I can't imagine having King on this team making 3.5 million or something to that effect.

I know we have issues with our lineup, but so do most NHL teams. I think the biggest issue now is that the current players are not playing with purpose and drive, except for a few guys. So many times last game, Kopitar and others just circled around the perimeter with possession without any shot on goal or real scoring threat. People knock on Brown a lot because of his cap hit, but huge props to him this season for playing with passion, drive, and grit in front of the net.

Perhaps its time for a coaching change to get a new voice in the room. As someone previously said, we are neither skilled nor gritty anymore, like the Blues. This team needs a coach that will maintain our possession game, but bring a slightly new philosophy and voice.

I think Sutter is probably a top 3 coach in this league, but his time here is starting to fade.

Could be he's trying to do just that,

An 'army' of scouts at the Sabres-Avs game last night, 24 scouts representing 17 teams. Kings were one of the teams with multiple scouts and a GM

teams with multiple scouts at the game were Winnipeg, Montreal, Columbus, Los Angeles and Toronto. The throng included Kings general manager Dean Lombardi.

hopefully he wasn't there scouting E. Kane

Blues are 7-1 since they changed coaches.

“It is (looser),†Blues defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk said. “Every coach has their style and Hitch is someone that we responded to and we embraced his style of coaching for a long time. But I think it’s any coach that coaches for a long time with one group of players, it gets harder and harder to come back with the same thing and expect that same drive.

“Mike has done a good job of changing little things around so it feels different around here, but when we go out there, we’re asked to do the same things. What he wants out of us isn’t much different than what Hitch expected. But those little moments in the locker room just kind of remind you that there’s a different guy in place and things are just a little bit different around here.â€

The sad thing about Dwight King is he is the type of player who will go somewhere else, suck and get waived.

He fits well in this system only. He could barely play in his brief time under Terry Murray.

Enough with the Chicago thing. They're not 6th in the league because of their young guys. A 38 year old has more to do with it than a 22 year old. Their core is as stale as the Kings, just more productive. They even brought back a 37 year old defenseman that they traded away years ago.
