mcnabb was better when his speed matched his brain. the power skating only made him make his mistakes faster.

I can't see Sutter starting 3 rookies on D. Like it or not, McNabb will continue to be in the lineup. Gravel and LaDue will alternate as we go. I don't see Martinez paired with either of the latter two either.

For all the peeps familiar with roster rules & numbers issues, was it really necessary to lose King? He's one guy that seems to have another gear come playoff time. Was trading King necessary to make room for Iginla?

Thanks!!!

Quincy was traded for pretty much nothing, come on DL... Should of been on that, he could have replaced McNabb

Roster limit goes away after the deadline. So no there was no reason to get rid of King for Iginla from a roster limit or cap limit reason. From a strictly player management standpoint there was no need.

Aside from what Holden said (he knows the rules better than I ever will), there was no way the Kings were going to be able to re-sign King over the summer. The cap crunch is next year, not this year.

Well, based upon that, I gotta think that DL was trying to make room for another move that just never happened. Otherwise, why do it? Oh well..... :(

You do it because you know King is going to hit free agency. Lombardi has learned his lesson it seems with free agents, our this is just a year where the team can get by without King.

Instead of just losing King for nothing, he got Iginla, who is basically a right handed King, for nothing, and traded King for a pick. It's like he didn't trade King at all, but still ended up with an extra pick. There's the asset management everyone wants from him.

But my point is this........ for the playoffs, teams want depth. King would have been an excellent depth guy to have for our playoff run. Now King will be an excellent depth guy, but for Montreal's playoff run. Doesn't make a bit of sense....... :shakehead

Quick off first for tonight per Rosen.

Honestly would rather have Bishop in. He play a more solid Game, while Quick got lit up by the Wild.

Maybe Lombardi sees the same non-contending team so many fans see?

They're going to let Quick fail first. He's the guy. He's the one that will be here next year.

A little context. The Wild are the second highest scoring team in the league this year.
In years past it might have been a bigger deal since they were about as anemic as the King when it came to scoring, but not this year.

And we also managed to score 4 on one of the stingiest teams in league as well.

It's Jon Quick enamel pin night at Staples.

He has to play on his pin night. This is also why they brought him back earlier than expected.

Ok we got the 70s line
The 20s line
And the 13 line 13x1 13x2 and 13x3
The top line on this list I am going them the Marian, Iggy, Anze line
Or MIA for short

Yeah there's a little difference between the +62 Minnesota Wild and the -7 Calgary Flames.

Don't want to bring any political discussions but this could involve some players in the future.

@nytimes
Sweden announced that mandatory military service would be introduced starting next year

This could have some impact on Swedish hockey players. Something to keep an eye on.

It just made me think of Kempe. :help:

Is it Finland that already does that? They do a compulsory one year thing (IIRC) but guys that are already foreign athletes like Koivu, Granlund, etc. just serve it during summers.

Edit: here's Koivus: http://www.twincities.com/2011/04/1...koivu-fulfilling-finnish-military-commitment/

"Under Finnish law, young men must complete at least six months of military service but not necessarily in one stretch."

Can't imagine they'd depart too drastically from that.

It's not like they haven't had before. It was just 7 years ago they stopped. But it doesn't sound like it's all. It's a percentage.
As long as the talk stays about the NHL and how it could affect them it's OK. If it gets into the politics then it will get removed

The MIA Line:

Career Goals: 1,261
2016-17 Goals: 21

This season currently accounts for 1.6% of their combined career goal total!

Getting a fourth round pick for 2018 while sitting outside of the playoffs is asset management?
