No, I don't. But I was happier when the reports were there haven't been any substantial talks.

And it's getting worse: According to mannix Danny is more willing to give up Smart than Brown/Crowder. That would be a huge mistake. Smart is making winning plays, that's a guy you need on your championship team.

I continue to think that neither Butler nor George would make us instant contenders. So I wouldn't bother making a huge blockbuster to get them here. But I feel Danny might be all in with the current core. They progressed too fast.
But before I am getting rid of my potential #1 overall, I am going after Melo. He would fit the current timeline without having to sacrifice too much of our future.

I don't know that Mannix actually has good sources. He talked on a podcast a few weeks ago about how we should be willing to trade Smart for Melo. That's just gross.

Although Smart, Crowder and Brown should all be close. I don't think it's ridiculous to say any of them is more available than another.

So it appears the Nuggets also tried to get George. But word is he stays in Indiana. SO nothing will happen. Danny passed up multiple deals of guys that have been linked to us in the past (Cousins, Noel, Gibson)

I am glad nothing happened. We better use that draft to get our own young stud. Plus I doubt the Nets are going to get much better next year, so we'll have another golden pick. We just need to have patience.

Biggest surprise: Okafor still in Philly after what happened over the past couple of weeks. Didn't think they would rather ship out Noel, but his value must be completely shot.

Edit: Tucker to the Craptors. Seriously, Danny wasn#t serious about adding anything middling to this roster. Many guys we have been linked to were traded. Tucker, Noel, Bogut, Gibson...
At this point I also wonder if GMs shy away of trading with AInge due to his strong reputation. All of his recent trades have worked out great.

The NBA is a superstar driven league. In my opinion, if you don't have someone like LBJ, Curry, etc. on your team, the best thing you can do is build your team for the future once LBJ and Curry start getting old and begin to leave their primes. While doing so, hope you can draft the next superstar. The Pierce, Bryant, KG, etc. era has been gone for a while. Right now, the NBA is in the LBJ and Curry era. In my opinion, in 3-5 years, there will be more parity in the league among teams. The Celtics should build towards that. It sucks, but it's the nature of the sport.

it's for the better, I am convinced of that. Fans can get impatient, but Ainge and his team are paid the big bucks not to make a short-sighted trade.

Wait until the off-season, we are going to get a top pick AND a few days later are going to sign one of Hayward/Griffin. I don't see many reasons why Gordon wouldn't come here. He's not married with the jazz, he signed an offer sheet before and unless he makes the All NBA team this year (unlikely), the difference in $ will not be that dramatic. He's got the connection with Stevens and the Celtics with him on the roster is his best shot at winning a title. Not getting there in Utah, they are already maxed out.

If the plan isn't to trade for Butler or George, what's the plan? I honestly have no clue. Are they hoping that Durant will opt out after this year? That they can beat out OKC for Blake this summer, which will make Westbrook want to leave, and then trade for/sign him? Or are they just going to keep the picks and build through the draft? If it's the latter, they might as well trade Isaiah since it'll likely be 3-4 years before these draft picks, provided that they pan out, are ready to help us be a title contender.

The best GM in basketball did the smart thing today by not doing anything.

I wouldn't have minded a smaller move for a rebounder, but I didn't care to pay a huge price for Butler or George, two guys that will never be the best player on a championship team.

Hell baby
this offseason will be fun

Standing pat is fine btw. No move is gonna be put them over the top this year. Maybe they will be a player in the buyout market for some rebounding help

Indiana was in prime position to build for the future. Crazy to me they didn't pull the trigger on George seing as he probably walks in a little over a year.

I'm excited to have a chance to get to the Eastern Finals. Would be fun to watch.

But I'm not in favor of trading first round picks to ensure that we do that.

Didn't Danny almost deal a Boat load for Justise Winslow. That would have been a horror show

I'm no b ball maven but Ainge has to nail one of these Brooklyn picks with a Towns or Ebid or a Bird or Magic

You can't gave 4 top 6 picks and not get one super star

I like Smart & Brown but he needs a stud

Also, don't overlook the fact that Chicago traded their best shooter and best big for another crap point guard. Butler's price will only go down. George too if he doesn't get an all-nba spot this year.

Magic I thought wants George and even though he's signed through 2018 the Lakers have good young assets to give

I don't know where they got this information or even how accurate it is but Sportsnet is saying that Chicago wanted 3 of these guys ( Bradley, Brown, Crowder and Smart ) plus this year's Brooklyn pick for Butler. If that's true then I'm glad Trader Danny stood pat. I still have hopes that the Brooklyn trade will eventually work out as well for the Celtics as the Hershel Walker trade did for the Dallas Cowboys. :handclap:

Maybe those people should see the Celtics actually win a round first before getting all worked up about the Eastern Finals.

Chris Gasper said the Nets have a lot of cap space and could get Millsap and others and not suck in 2017-18 and pushing that pick in 10-14 range

That would blow and something to watch

Brooklyn is a dumpster fire, I can't see any big name players signing there
