How are the Celtics closer to a title than the Bruins?

Did aliens take GS & James away?
Because the Celtics are currently the #2 seed in the East and are looking at a summer where they'll have the chance to possibly add two "franchise" players in a sport where adding one significant player can change a team dramatically.

Meanwhile, the Bruins are fighting for the last playoff spot, they won't have much cap space this summer, and most of their best players are on the wrong side of 30.

fallout from the Sacramento/New Orleans mega-trade (Cousins)

F Omri Casspi, was injured in his Pelicans debut (thumb), Pelicans now waiving Casspi.

Celtics/D-League:

C's outlasted the Pistons 104-98 in the Palace, after that ugly loss vs TOR; IT continues streak of 20 + pts, w/ 33;

Next: vs. the Hawks tomorrow @ TDG;

Canton Charge (CLE) beat the Claws 105-88 in Canton.

I'll believe they add when I see it

Still taking Bruins and by a lot to win before Celtics

Ibaka likely re-signs in Toronto. Tucker is a pure rental. The Raptors gave up nothing outside of Ross and a late 1st for those 2. Two 2nd's and Sullinger basically for Tucker and Ibaka, yes please.

Tucker, Ibaka for Ross, Sullinger, 1st round pick, two 2nd round picks. You wouldn't have done that?

I would have done the Tucker trade in the Celtics' situation but not the Ibaka one.

Tucker is a bit piece that doesn't really change anything except maybe helping us to regular season win or two though.

I'm guessing you haven't seen Markelle Fultz or Lonzo Ball play. They add one of those two guys, another good free agent, and another terrific Brooklyn pick in 2018 and they're approaching a 60+ win team. And thats assuming that Marcus Smart and Jaylen Brown don't continue to build, and they will. Especially Jaylen.

The bruins aint sniffing the equivalent to that win total or anything close next year.

I'm ready for a Celtics parade

I'm no hoop maven but I was at Bird retirement event and McHake's half time retirement ceremony that Sunday vs Phoenix- and got to see live those 74 & 76 teams so I like the game

Then again I know who Jordan Mickey is and Connor Henry so maybe I am a maven

Not a fan of the new NBA where players scheming and weather dictate who's good or not

Will start watching prospects when the tourney starts.

I see Thomas as a Marchand but Horford has not been Bergeron- maybe Brown if he can hit from out side can be as dynamic as Pasta

They are fun but I'd take Toronto over them in less than 7 and they'd have their hands full with Washington

Laughing at Celtics fans sounding like Bruins fans pissed Ainge didn't make a deal- no deal is better than a bad deal

To bad a Towns or Davis like players aren't available in the draft

Brown has the look of maybe something special will be interesting to see

Not a maven but still going smarter than your average Green Teamer

Jaylen is looking a lot better than I expected he would this year

Kids incredibly bright. I don't see how he doesn't become a star in time

Lot of ifs

Next year at this time the Bruins will be sitting with the Minnesota Wild like record only more balanced and talented

I'm not an NBA fan, so I can't comment on the individual players, but the reason I think you could say that the B's are closer to the Cup than the Celtics an NBA crown is not because the C's are without talent or potential. It's because in the NHL, there are no Warriors, and there are no Cavaliers.

But the flip side of the NHL parity is that you have to compete with 20 teams and even if the Bruins put a complete roster together, they could lose in the first round, like we almost did both Cup runs. Who's closer depends entirely on how you feel about the Bruins. We know the Celtics aren't winning this year or likely next. The Bruins have a puncher's chance. But the Celtics are better set up for the not too distant future.

3 Atlanta Hawks in double digits tonite vs Celtics in rebounding. Tell me some more about how this team has the best GM.More like he got lucky Brooklyn GM was a complete dummy. He will get all the credit for pulling that trade off but let's be real here. That was beyond a dumb move by that GM in Brooklyn.Celtics be in serious trouble under Ainge not for that

Still completely missing the point of why we didn't make a move. How come you only comment here after a loss?

What I gather from this post is you think the Brooklyn trade is the only good one Danny has made and he took advantage of an idiot and that anyone could have done that.

Lets look at the Isaiah trade:

Isaiah Thomas for the corpse of Tayshaun Prince, Marcus Thornton, and Cleveland's first rounder that they gave us for the favour of taking Tyler Zeller. So essentially Isaiah Thomas, who is an all star, for a whole lot of not much. That's a tick in my book.

Lets look at the Jeff Green trade:

Jeff green out for the corpse of Tayshaun prince aka expiring money (flipped in the isaiah deal), Austin Rivers, Cash, and a 2017 First. Austin Rivers then gets flipped for a 2017 2nd and filler. Considering how Jeff is playing now and who he's playing for, that's a tick in my book.

Lets look at the Rondo trade:

Rondo and Dwight Powell for Jameer Nelson, Brandon Wright (who gets flipped for more picks), and Jae Crowder, plus protected first and second.

Once again, a tick.

Theres 3 trades AFTER the Brooklyn trade where Danny got the good end of the deal and pretty much debunk your theory of him being a one trade wonder. You also watch Jaylen play and develop and you're very much appreciative of Danny drafting Jaylen before Hield, Bender, Murray, Dunn.

Let's hope Bogut sees there is an opportunity to be a starter here and chooses us. We need a rim protector badly.

Bang on.

Also he was able to get Crowder and Bradley on what look like sweetheart extensions. He faced criticism for the Bradley one but he was spot on in his talent evaluation. Crowder has arguably the best contract in the league.

I bet Bogut is going to Cleveland to stick it to golden state

Apparently he's deciding between 4 teams.

from today's cbssports.com:

Andrew Bogut is undecided about his next destination, according to ESPN, the Boston Globe and The Vertical. While a previous report indicated the center was expected to join the Cleveland Cavaliers, ESPN and The Vertical reported that he’s still choosing between the Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs and Cleveland. Bogut, who was bought out by the Philadelphia 76ers after being traded from the Dallas Mavericks just before last Thursday’s deadline, will clear waivers at 5 p.m. ET Tuesday as long as no team claims him.

The Bogut thing is interesting. I dismissed the possibility of him after the deadline because a) figured he'd want to go to Cleveland and b) figured that if we really wanted him badly enough, we'd have traded Zeller for him. But now it seems like Bogut might want more of a role and I kinda forgot that even though Zeller is useless, his nonguaranteed contract might not be (it probably will be, but I could see how it's not worth giving up for Bogut).

Houston is a real possibility too though.

Houston is out, but supposedly the decision is CLE, BOS, or SA

Durant left the game against washington very early after Zaza fell on his leg and hyperextended his knee the wrong way.

He will have an MRI.

Could be pretty devastating consequences for GSW.

They are fearful it could be months for Durant, not weeks.

Would have been fascinating if that happened a week before the trade deadline.

That was one of my first thoughts, but I'm not sure it would have made a difference. San Antonio has the team they like, Houston made their moves. LA doesn't have flexibility. Cleveland doesn't have flexibility. Toronto and Washington made their moves. It might have affected us, Utah and Memphis, but I doubt it.
