C's finish the road trip 3-1. Who knew after the terrible game against the Kings without DMC? Very impressive...all that with Bradley missing all games, Crowder 2 and Brown another one.

Don't look, but they are not that far behind the Cavs who might have lost Love for an unknown amount of time. If he's out for several weeks, we might have a chance.
This puts Danny in such a great position...he can wait until the deadline and see if some other GM gets desperate.

Going to Toronto again in a week, have great seats for the Celtics & Raptors on the 24th. Danny Ainge must be sleeping so peaceful at night these days

Serge Ibaka to Toronto.

Ainge apparently unwilling to part with Rozier, preferring to let Ibaka go to our division rival.

I've been on the same page as him this whole time. We're not giving up long term assets (whether that's Rozier, cap space or a pick) for something that doesn't put us over the top. It's tough to see Ibaka go to our rival, but it's a smart pass.

Yeah I think they value the chemistry the team has and they aren't gonna run the risk of disrupting it unless it's really worth it. Not having our own late first probably made this deal tough to make. Plus ibaka isn't much of a rebounder, he'd be an upgrade on Amir in the lineup but I don't think a half season of him is worth rozier and a 1st

I do think there are moves we can make, just not for Rozier+ unless it's something way bigger. But
2nds or Mickey/Zeller/Young/Jackson for Tyreke Evans or PJ Tucker or Bogut or something like that would be more in line with our plans of competing while keeping a long term vision. A Bradley trade would have made some sense, but unlikely with the injury.

Proud of Ainge for not panicking. Not sure every gm could resist going for it when sitting pretty in the east. I mean he still could make such a trade, but at least not for a rental. And I am not sure how great of a fit Ibaka would have been alongside Horford.

Still would watch out for a deal with Orlando, they appear determined to turn over that roster. And sooner or later a guard had to go. And if I had to make a bet, I'd say IT and Smart are the keepers and Avery is the odd man out, cannot afford him anyway if we pay IT and MS.

I dont mind not trading assets for an Ibaka rental....but if Danny wants this team to even come close to contending he needs an actual center that can defend the paint and rebound. Otherwise we may aswell pitch this season in the fire right now.

Will Celtics follow Raptors' aggressive lead and bid for Jimmy Butler?

The only one that matters to the Bulls is the Celtics, whom many league executives believe at least will re-kindle talks from last June regarding Jimmy Butler to see his cost. Obviously, with Butler's ascension to a likely All-NBA selection as one of the game's top-15 players, that price will be extremely high, higher than last June. As of now, league sources insist the Celtics won't part with this June's first-round pick they own from the Nets, which could be the No. 1 overall selection in a strong draft. The Celtics also own the Nets' 2018 first-round pick. Whether the Celtics' stance changes between now and the Feb. 23 trade deadline is unknown. So is whether the Bulls would even pull the trigger on a Butler trade even if the Celtics changed their stance on those picks.

The problem is we need more than just a center and the "more" is a lot harder to find than the center, so save your assets and either turn them into players over time or turn them into a star in a big trade. Don't waste them.

I'd really like to know what the proposed deal was at last years Draft day. There are several leaks, most of them say all proposed trades were centered around the #3 which would have been Kris Dunn. Plus pick #16 and one of Crowder/Bradley. If the Bulls somehow like what Brown is showing, I wonder if a similar deal could come back on the table.

What should be OFF the table is the BKN 17 swap. It's at worst #4 which would still be a top prospect and better than anything from the '16 draft save Simmons.

No matter what, I wouldn't make a shortsighted trade and surrender the possible
#1 pick. It's unheard of, except for the outlier Love/Wiggins-trade. They only made this trade to get Lebron back. If Durant said he would sign here next off-season if we traded for Butler, then of course you overpay and surrender the #1, but we are not in such a position.
