Not sure that Petan has been relegated. I think if he plays C it is on the 3rd line. Otherwise he is a LW I agree. I'm not predicting he wins 3C but I think he is in the mix.

There are a lot of different ways this could go with the bottom 6. Lowry could be 3C out of TC and Petan in the A. Petan could be 3C 20 games in though.

My guess though is Burmi at 3C and Lowry at 4LW but we will see. I think our guesses at bottom 6 will be changing every day during TC.

I think a lot of these decisions are going to be based on the type of team we are looking to ice next year. Are we still looking at a 3rd 'checking' line of crash and bangers and 4th 'don't have anything better' line getting 4 or 5 mins per night?

...or do we actually try running the best 4 lines possible with all of the talent we have?

Are you trying to morph this thread into the 'Fire Maurice' thread?

Some of us are remembering his rookie season, and quite frankly, how he ended last season. He was very good in his rookie season.

How long will you hang onto that for? There is too much good talent on this team to have him on the third line. Why not have him on the fourth line? We can have a good offensive third line, and with him, Dano, Armia, Burmi, Copp, or whoever else we put on the fourth line, we can have a really strong four lines.

I just think the Jets want a hard-to-play-against 3rd line that'll wear down the opposition and chip in with some scoring. If Lowry showed some more offense, he'd be their ideal 3C. His rookie year was pretty promising, all told. His second season was a disappointment. Does he get back on track next year or is Year 2 Lowry the reality?

Laine Schiefele Ehlers
Connor Little Wheelers
Lemiuex Petan Armia

I think you forgot Ehlers in your second line-up. That makes it even stronger.

I don't think it's unreasonable to be optimistic about Lowry. He had an excellent rookie season, and after a slow start in his sophomore season he had a strong end to the season. He's only just turned 23 and entering his 3rd season as a big C, which is a position that takes some time to really excel at.

I could see him as a 4th liner, but I could also see him take another step forward next season.

I think he can get back on track. He has a pretty good pedigree. He scored well in junior (after a season with a significant injury) earning WHL Player of the Year honors. As a rookie he was 5th on the team in relCF%. It's too early to write him off, in my view.

6'6" 3rd line C that has a mean streak and play 200 foot hockey that pots in between 13-17 a year .. Is pretty good.

He will back next year, that boy Adam Lowry. I know he is reading this now...

Edit.. Don't play him with Stafford ( nothing againts staff), they don't mix well together. Stafford is good with skilled player , he is always a good passenger in a skilled line.

Thanks Maurice, you are reading this also I know you.

Ooops... too much goodness!

Connor Matthews Little
Ehlers Schiefele Wheeler
Perreault Lowry Dano
Petan Copp Armia

That would be pretty crazy. You've got players that can legitimately move up and down the roster and still contribute. The 3rd and 4th lines would probably get jumbled quite a bit. I like the PCA line, but I'm not sure about Lowry between Dano and Perreault.

Would be terrible to have these issues, yes? ;)

What's your Laine lineup?

In a year or two (minus Burmi and Stafford)...

Laine-Scheifele-Ehlers (oh my goodness!)
Connor-Little-Wheeler (great 2nd line)
Perreault-Lowry-Dano (very good possession line)
Petan-Copp-Armia (loved this line late last season)

Lemieux and Roslovic on deck.

Keep in mind the following players now need to pass through waivers:

Joel Armia
Adam Lowry
JC Lipon
Brendan Kichton
Austen Brassard

The following players do NOT need waivers:

Nikolaj Ehlers
Nic Petan
Andrew Copp
Josh Morrissey
Connor Hellebuyck
Marko Dano

Adjust accordingly.

I think given his usage (especially being firmly between Perreault and Frolik for much of his rookie season), the truth lies in the middle.

I think optimally Lowry lies as a 3/4 centre much like Kruger in role, but very different in player style.

I'm not certain Lowry has the footspeed though to ever be what the best hope scenario the Jets have for Lowry.

And for those saying "they tried Lowry on top line", they did also with two of his competition, Burmi also in preseason and Petan in regular season, and Maurice talked about it being a precaution with looking at what works since last year they had so many injuries, so I don't take too much from that.

I think Maurice was pretty high on Lowry and fairly serious with the trial of Lowry at C with Ladd and Little.
