Debatably better, marginally better, maybe a lttle more than that. Maybe 1 better option but now there are head and shoulders better and maybe several players better. It isn't that there weren't option before but the dufference between the options is so large, clear and inarguable.

I'm not talking about on the roster. I'm talking about on the ice. Playing. The Jets are not cheap. Sorry but that is just not true. Look at the money they keep spending. They may be careful with spending but not cheap. Burying players in the AHL. Budaj, Harrison say hello. They will when needed. Expect Peluso there this year. What is the financial difference between Stu in the press box and Stu in the AHL? This idea that we are paying him so we have to play him just doesn't stand up. The player gets paid either way.

If you send him to the AHL, someone is coming up at full NHL salary, so yes, there is an incremental cost.

How do you even know that? Were you there? Do you know someone? I'm legitimately curious.

I know the Moose team doctor (or one of them anyways). He went out of his way to compliment Harrison. Also Stoykewych came to the high school i coached for a talk (since he was a grad) and he also spoke highly of Harrison.

McCambridge compares Harrison to Budaj and says his head was not screwed on right and really did not pan out very well. Starts at 9:50

Throws Fraser under the bus at 9:30

Yes, but it is peanuts, especially compared to the benefit on ice. That said I have no expectation of Stu in the A but I do expect him in the PB. Game after game after game.

How about if Stafford had scored 15-20 goals around the deadline and the Jets are in the middle of playoff battle?

Would you still trade him?

In terms of starting lineups next season, that probably makes sense. Biggest battle will be for 3C & 4C. 4 wingers could be anybody.

Lots of moves as the season progresses, with Scheif's line being #1, Connor moving to second line, Lowry can't hold off the charge for 3C from Petan or Burmi, Stafford can't hold onto a top 9 position (although I think trading him at the TD won't happen because we'll be in a playoff battle), Thorburn vying for and getting time on the 4th line (just because he's so useful:naughty:), Lemieux finding his way onto the team & making an impact, etc.

Drives me insane that people pencil Lowry into the third line.

Some of us are remembering his rookie season, and quite frankly, how he ended last season. He was very good in his rookie season.

The bottom half of our lineup is in for such a dogfight.

But in terms of defenseman if Morrissey can't make the jump I think we need to do something there. I'm not confident that we can have two of Stuart/Chiarot/Postma playing the whole year and be successful.

Yeah its really up to training camp and exhibition games between Lowry Copp and Burmi for whoever wants that 3C spot. If Lowry puts that weight on he lost before last year to get quicker (he didnt) and starts bowling through people again, he will make a fine 3C. Maybe he gets outplayed by other guys, maybe not. It's not a bad guess to bet on him rebounding.

I don't mind this, but I'd worry about that 3rd line. I don't think Lowry and Stafford should ever be together, and especially not with a rookie. Maybe you swap Lowry and Burmistrov and try that.
I think we all know that many different line combinations will be tried. I'm most interested in who makes the team to begin with, but speculation on that before training camp, the rookie camp, or even the draft is futile. On the other hand, futility is kinda what we (HF posters, that is) do around here.

I agree Whileee but I think the competition likely pushes him down to the 4th line. He has to win that 3C against Copp, Burmi and Petan. Lowry could come out on top but I am remembering late season Burmi. I think he gets it but Petan will make a strong bid too. Your 3rd line will not be a checking line. They will need a C more skilled than Lowry.

As long as Stuart isn't one of the 2 we can. :)

Where do you get that Lowry lost weight? He was listed last year as 5 lbs heavier than the year before, 210 - 205.

If Scheifele ($6 mill) and Trouba ($5+ mill) get long term deals, and not bridge deals, I can see some movement this summer with our higher paid vets - Stafford, Pavelec, Myers or Enstrom.

Buff's new deal kicks in, too.

I don't see the Jets wanting to be too close to the cap ceiling for this coming year or next.

Even with those numbers the Jets still have plenty of room if that 74 mil estimated cap was close. They would be at about 67 mil.

Lowry was being considered to C with Little and Ladd at the beginning of last season. I think that he will be highly motivated to have a big camp. He might be pushed down to the 4th line by Burmi, or maybe even Copp. I think the Jets see Petan as a LW for the foreseeable future.

Training camp is going to have some intense competition.

Not sure that Petan has been relegated. I think if he plays C it is on the 3rd line. Otherwise he is a LW I agree. I'm not predicting he wins 3C but I think he is in the mix.

There are a lot of different ways this could go with the bottom 6. Lowry could be 3C out of TC and Petan in the A. Petan could be 3C 20 games in though.

My guess though is Burmi at 3C and Lowry at 4LW but we will see. I think our guesses at bottom 6 will be changing every day during TC.

Laine – Scheifele – Wheeler
Lowry – Little – Ehlers
Connor – Perreault – Stafford
Armia – Burmistov – Dano

Enstrom – Myers (Hammonic)
Trouba – Buff
Chiarot – Postma

PB - Stuart, Thorburn, Peluso

Not sure about Laine on the top line but I think it makes sense to keep the young W on different lines and on their natural sides. Lowry’s a little higher than he should be to balance the lines and provide some size to go with Little/Ehlers. Ladd would look good there if he’d agree to the right contract, but that’s unlikely at this point.
