It's an awesome sport Aeroforce. Much like golf you can play it at any stage of life in competitive or non competitive situations with all male, all female or a combination of the two making up a team. Unlike golf, you can get a much greater physical workout in doing it. Lost of strategy involved also makes it more entertaining.
Have a good friend who more recently relocated to Denver and spearheaded the building of a brand new facility. The response from the community has been outstanding. Most clubs will offer free clinics for introducing the game to potential new curlers. Bonus, for those who are inclined, is you can enjoy your favourite adult beverage before, during and after the game. Customary for the winning team to buy the first round for both teams following a match.
For folks who are involved with playing sports most of their lives it is a perfect transition from the more physically demanding and injury prone options like hockey, baseball, soccer, etc. Those type of sports can often have far reaching issues should you incur a significant injury. As you get older that becomes a much more important consideration for most in choosing sports to become or remain involved with.
"Hurry hard" to your neighbourhood club add check it out! If you enjoy playing sports you will not be disappointed.
Edit: followed a world curling tour bonspiel a few weeks ago that was being played in Arizona. Much like hockey the sport has grown in non traditional markets. There may well be facilities established in Texas as well.
