An AHL game last night featured a dust up with several players involved. It quickly spilled over into an off ice fight after the players involved were ejected.

Saw this...good for Dunn. Scored a goal, absorbed a cheap shot from Gabriel and gets the last laugh in the tunnel with a nice right hand over the much bigger Gabriel. Looks like maybe Wizniewski didn't need to come to his rescue on the ice after all.

I'm tired of loser points. If the league won't go to the three point system, maybe they should look at this:

2 points for a regulation or OT win
0 points for a regulation or OT loss
1 point each if it goes to a shootout

Tie breaking procedures:
1. Fewer number of games played
2. Greater number of points earned head to head
3. Greater number of shootout wins
4. Goal differential

Shootouts are way more important than they should be. No more loser point, getting to the shootout means you only get one point so there will be incentive to actually freakin win. There shouldn't be any reward for losing outright, you should only feel shame.

I agree, this drives me nuts - Detroit was wasting time on the clock against the Bruins in OT so they could get to the shoot out where they had a perfect record. It is pathetic - how is that deciding which is the better team for the night? Very frustrating.

The way I look at it too, shoot outs are not used in the playoffs and for good reason, so they should have far less of a significant impact on whether or not you make the playoffs

I'd be perfectly fine if they changed the format to 1 point for the shoot out winner and none for the loser, hopefully this will encourage teams to play for the ROW

Something like that would be the most fun from a game theory - how teams are motivated - perspective. The last 5-10 minutes of a tie game where teams are playing to secure the loser point suck. Would be much better if at the end of regulation and through OT, there's motivation NOT to be tied. 2 points for a ROW. No loser points. 1 point for a SO win.

Former Buffalo Sabres enforcer Andrew Peters has been suspended from coaching the Jr. Sabres midget club after video of a brawl that broke out Saturday appears to show him striking a young player.

"We are very disappointed in the series of events that unfolded during the 15U Buffalo Jr. Sabres game on Saturday," said Buffalo Jr. Sabres president Kevyn Adams in a statement released Sunday via the Buffalo News. "We are currently reviewing the situation and in the meantime have suspended head coach Andrew Peters indefinitely until the matter is resolved."

I don't know what is worse.

A league where you root for games that aren't competitive so only 2 points are awarded instead of 3.

Or a league where you actually prefer your team finish 4th in your division rather than 2nd or 3rd in order to get the easier 1st round match-up vs. the Atlantic division champion, such as we have right now in the Metro division.

Or a league where you actually prefer your team finish 2nd or 3rd instead of winning your division, so that you get the better 1st round match-up by facing 2nd/3rd and not the other divisions 4th place team as we have right now in the Atlantic.

Right now the NHL has all of these problems.

That would be a funny swap since Quick is back for LA. What am I missing here?

In game news, the Preds are making the Oilers look like a peewee team.

edit: Then the Oilers score to make it 4-3 for Nashville. Me and my bog mouth.

I think LA is a little wary of Quick's recovery from injury and they also have 5 (I think) back-to-backs remaining this season.
