IMO it should be:

Sanheim-Hickett
Fleury-Juulsen
Dermott-Hickey
Chabot

Based on their performance in the exhibition, in no way am I comfortable bringing that group overseas to play in that tournament. Hopefully someone steps it up during the season because that D corps is as questionable as our goaltending.

You can only put so much into this camp. Fleury was the best dman at last years exhibition and was still the final cut from the team.

I think that group would be fine for the tournament though.

After a great tournament resulting in a Canadian Gold, nothing better than winning the year after and doing it all again. Next year it'll be in Helenski, Finland. Canada will be in the same pool as Sweden, USA, Denmark and Switzerland.

This won't have many returnees (only up to 5 returnees excluding McDavid). Good year for Canada to have a good 2015 draft year because we'll be needing some good players out of that one IMO. Last time we were in Europe playing in the World Juniors, it wasn't good (2014). Hopefully lessons are learned from playing in Europe and I hope they check out Guy Boucher for a coaching job, his team is #1 in the Swiss League and he's coaching it. Maybe Ralph Krueger has a similar role he had for the Sochi team as an advisor for the bigger ice. Don Hay coached the 2013 U18s to Gold but he had a pretty stacked team including McDavid. Jody Hull just won the Ivan Hlinka is a pretty dominating manner, he's a good one because I think alot of the players from the Ivan Hlinka team will be on the World Junior team like Strome, Marner, Merkley, Crouse, Konecny, Barzal, J.Roy, Booth or Sawchenko possibly.

Well here's my early long shot prediction at the roster, going to need some quality 19 year olds to come through.

Dal Colle - Bennett - Marner
Perlini - Barzal - Virtanen
Crouse - Fabbri - Bleackley
Lemieux - McCann - Hawryluk
Point

Fleury - J.Roy
Sanheim - Carrier
Pilon - Hicketts
Chychurn

Blackwood
MacDonald

Want to try again I dont think Point 13th Forward
Barzal? Really !kinda makes me think you havnt seen these guys play!

Have You??

Yeah that was an ugly projection. It was an old one though, just making sure you know that. I just wasn't impressed by Point last year but I guess with more maturity he really took his game to another level.

I actually really like the top 6 forwards he posted:

Crouse-Point-Marner
MDC-Fabbri-Virtanen

I think the take away from them playing Marner in 2 games was that they were comfortable with what they saw from him. Having said that, I wished they'd tried him at centre and also on a line without Strome.

Yup Marner at Center would be great too. Maybe MDC-Marner-Virtanen.

Marner will be playing C with the Knights next season (assuming he is sent back - and I anticipate he will be) so HC will be able to see him playing that. I guess one thing I'd add is as great as I believe Marner will be at C, he's also a proven entity at RW - meaning, HC might be more comfortable shifting him there that putting him at C and shifting another player - who has not shown the quality at RW that Marner has - into that position...which would be understandable. We'll see how things play out.

Also - it's not like I have any problem with Marner and Strome together. I think they play extremely well on the same line (I just wish that Marner would shoot more rather than always going for the beautiful pass - but that's o/t). Having said that, If they want Marner and Strome on the same line then for heaven's sake leave Strome at centre. Playing them on the same line and shifting Strome to wing to insert an inferior centre is not something I want to see again.

Seen it for many years. A lot of centres get lost when shifted to wing. They don't have the IQ to adjust quickly to that position. Like most super teams the best players are usually taken which means more centres than wingers. So some centres have to play wing where they struggle. I think they tried Dylan at wing because he may not crack this years team at centre. Marners IQ allows him to play wing or centre equally well. Thats what happened his rookie year in the OHL. London was talent laden down the middle and Marner slotted in on wing. Marners versatily is often overlooked by the casual observer. He can even QB the PP from the point as we saw in London and at this years TC first game.

I expect to see Marner at wing during the tournament.

For better or for worse, HC has generally tended to put these smaller, shifty younger players on the wing in their 1st year playing. Huberdeau got that treatment (although he eventually became a permanent winger in the NHL), as did Drouin as a 17 year old.

The logic is that you will need a guy like Marner to produce offence if you want to win, but you dont want to burden these younger guys with defensive responsibility, especially when it is a step up in level from the CHL.

Fabbri for example was a winger mainly last year, but will likely feature as a center this year. Bennett if he comes will be a center etc.

Things will obviously change, but as of now:

Crouse - Fabbri - Marner
Dal Colle - Point - Virtanen
Ho-Sang - D.Strome - Barzal
Perlini - McCann - Konecny
Merkley

Hicketts - Fleury
Sanheim - Dermott
Hickey - Juulsen
LeBlanc (or Chabot/Dunn/Roy)

Three was an article in the Calgary Herald. Fred Brathwaite was just glowing about Mason McDonald. He said, "the Flames have a keeper". It made it sound like he would be the starter as long as Mason plays well.

Now that the summer camp is over, and a little OT, but the Czechs I thought were very disappointing. I have them as a medal contender for the 2016 tourney, but may have to reevaluate that...

What players were missing from the Czech camp other than the obvious 3?

I'll take a shot:

Dal Colle - Strome - Marner
Ho-Sang - Point - Konecny
Crouse - Fabbri - Virtanen
Perlini - McCann - Merkley
Barzal

Sanheim - Hicketts
Fleury - Juulsen
Hickey - Roy
Chabot

McDonald
Blackwood
