He played decent in the SS but it'll depend on what type of team Russia wants to have. He's putting up some decent points here, but I think his real bread and butter is his defensive play and faceoffs and they have a few respectable centers penciled in. He deserves it.

Agree, and thanks for your response. :) With Fazleyev, Flyers would have 7 prospects attending WJC which is really awesome and exciting stuff for me, as a Flyers fan. But I love WJC anyway, simply really great time of year and terrific hockey.

How good is Fazleev at faceoffs anyway? Does anyone have numbers?

I would not mind seeing him slotted with Korshkov and Kraskovsky instead of Polunin. Would be a gritty energy line.

I dunno, Dergachyov perhaps?

I think Bragin will keep Svechnikov-Lazarev, and Kraskovsky-Korshkov together.....which leaves Dergachyov available on a RW. Saying that, Dergachyov played exclusively with Svetlakov at the SSS. Although, a Svechnikov- Kamenev-Lazarev line would also look nice too.

Svechnikov - xxxxxxx - Lazarev
xxxxxxx - Kraskovsky - Korshkov
xxxxxxx - xxxxxxxxxx- Dergachyov
xxxxxxx - xxxxxxxxx - xxxxxxxxxx

Lazarev and Svechnikov perhaps with Trenin, an all-Q line. Personally, I'd rather see Svechnikov at C, and Dergachev with them at RW. However I don't think Bragin perceives Svech as a centre.

Fazleev-Kraskovsky-Korshkov would be my pick for an energy line.

Kaprizov-Kamenev-Guryanov is something I would like to see attempted at camp. I think Guryanov is either a major contributor here or is cut, depending on his showing.

Is there any link to Kamenev being released by Nashville\Milwaukee for this tournament? He's on Milwaukee's first line and an important part of their offense, it seems strange that they'd let him go but not Fiala

Bragin has said to the Russian media that the Predators have given a tentative go without guarantees. What this basically means is that if there are injuries incurred by the big club, Kamenev could stay.

I don't have his faceoff numbers, but he has been heavily relied on for key faceoffs, defensive matchups, and PK'ing in Calgary this season and last. Last season he centered the shutdown line. This season he's been the key center in all situations. Both offense and defense.

Good to hear; thanks for sharing. I think Bragin likes him, hence the invite.

Kraskovsky sucks at faceoffs so having Fazleev on that line makes sense to me.

Any thoughts on Sergeev? I'm a little surprised to see some folks slotting him in on the second pairing.

Why surprised? I think 2nd or 3rd pairing would make sense. Good player at both ends of the ice in my viewings. Very positionally solid.

Unless there are any big surprises at camp I think the defensive pairings will be Provorov-Zborovsky (dub pairing), then perhaps Sergeev with Boikov (they've played together before) and Sharipzyanov with Mikulovich.

That leaves room for another 1 or 2 d-men, depending on the structure Bragin prefers (13-7 or 12-8; usually he goes with 13-7). Maybe Zhuldikov is the extra guy.

I've preferred Svechnikov at centre here in Cape Breton. I think Bragin should do his best the replicate the Eagles' top line. It's the most productive in the CHL. Lazarev - Svechkinov - Dergachyov would be fun to watch.

Surprised just because he went undrafted I guess. As a Blues fan, I've seen him impress in every step so far, and he's having a great year in Kitchener from what I've seen as well. Good to hear he's getting some love from his national team!

Feels like there is a good number of mature players but the team really lacks high end prospects compared to other years.

Polunin kraskovsky korshkov were easily solid in khl and dominated mhl.

Dergachyov alone can cause physical problems for any team.
Guryanov has been a dissapointment in khl, just looking at his stats.
Kaprizov seems good, hopefully he can be a leader.

Otherwise this feels like a really subpar year, especially when you consider the goalies. It's hard to see them making it to the final..

Anyone else think so?

Here's Ilya Samsonov with a bear:

Would you still say that if they went with Tretiak as the starter?

Tretiak will be the 3rd goalie. Bragin already said Samsonov and Georgiev will battle for the starting goalie job.

As zine says, Bragin has already stated that Tretiak is not in competition for either of the top-2 spots.

Russia has Ilya Samsonov, a first round pick in the middle of an excellent year in the KHL, as the likely #1, followed by Georgiev who is also playing in the pros.

It's just funny that they still have to bring him when he's really not in their top three and possibly not even their top five goaltending prospects. Hockey politics at it's finest!
