The idea of limiting this team to 19 year olds is ridiculous. I posted a previous lineup that i think would be best for next year. This ywars problems started with selection of players. They arent representative of our best players in the country. I think some are there because their respective junior coaches are behind the bench. Seems obvious to me anyway. The lineup for next year to represent our best i think is something like this:

Man, talk about first world (hockey) problems......It was a down year-nothing more, nothing less. There is no need to reinvent the wheel at Hockey Canada. I wouldn't be surprised if Canada is back on top again next year (especially at home).

We overreact when we win and we overreact when we lose.

i'm an isles fan and truly believe that ho-sang could have been a huge offensive addition to the squad this year. HOWEVER, if people are all over virtanen for being dumb (and damn is virtanen ever dumb), ho-sang could have taken that to a whole other level. who knows what this kid is capable of and it is because of this that he simply couldn't be trusted in this short tournament. virtanen blew up the team with undisciplined play but he did so with conventional explosives. ho-sang would have used nuclear weapons to destroy team canada from within.

I agree with you. But its easy to pick a team now.

It's the 1st time Canada is not in the top 4 in 18 years! Is it really necessary to make those major changes?

Keep in mind in addition to this poor finish, Canada has finished 4th twice and 3rd once within the last 5 years now ... Only one gold medal in the only time they've made it to the finals in that span.

For a country that believes it to be the best hockey nation in the world and gold expectations every year, this trend leads us to believe something's wrong with Hockey Canada and player development currently.

And yes I understand parity is increasing and other nations are catching up (which is great for the sport) but Canada apparently isn't adapting by the looks of it

The only way Ho-Sang ever plays in a World Juniors is if there is a Team Ho-Sang, because to him, its all about him. He think's he is God's gift to hockey, boy, is he in for a rude awakening.

Yeah the Islanders don't deserve his self fish attitude. They need that pick back.

Maybe, Wilson, you should mind your own business, you arrogant ********.

don't ask the questions unless you want the answers. its not like Canadian hockey media is not familiar with Wilson.

if you watch the interview, he's not being harsh at all. but like I said, they found him. they asked him. you wanted no comment?

That's utter rubbish of an article. To blame a 19 year old young man for Team Canada's collective fallure is nothing more than a witch hunt. Virtanen can't play goal, nor defence, nor was he the coach that made the questionable decisions.

Right…but all the other lines leading up to that say otherwise…so do the math one more time, Renney, and see if you can find where you made an obvious error

Virtanen should have benched himself.
18 and 19 year old kids should act more mature than 18 and 19 year old kids.
The players should have changed their own lines when things weren't working.

The nepotism from Hockey Canada is delicious.

He'll sleep through it

One gold in seven years, medal-less in three of last four tournaments, no finals appearance in 4 of last 5, worst performance in 18 years.

This is the least consistent Canada has ever been in this tournament.

The overreacting is valid.

My love for junior hockey has waned. Couldn't be bothered to watch the OHL in quite a few years as the product is subpar and so non-entertaining. This was by far the least interested I've been in the sport in a many years. On the other hand, congrats Finland, well deserved!
