Holy **** stop with the Virtanen IQ. Say it once, prove your point and move on. No one likes people who keep repeating the same thing.

Well when it's clear its very questionable ( and obviously it is because your getting mad that it keeps getting mentioned ) and a Canucks fan is gunna act like it's not then I'm gunna repeat it for him

I don't want one of our best forwards being drug down

Lets hope these kids don't take any drinks from strangers! :sarcasm:

Personally I would try to get Strome away from Marner, imo Marner was one of the worst forwards on the ice last game. I would at least switch it up a little bit.

There's always some pressure on these kids but they won't be talked about everytime they fail. Everyone forgets after the tournament is over, but when they win they'll be shown on T.V forever. Other countries don't get the same highs.

Agreed, I was worried before the tourney that the coach is just gunna keep them together no matter what so hopefully that doesn't happen

I would do this but what do I know:

Beauvillier-Strome-Konecny
Crouse-Point-Marner
Perlini-Barzal-Virtanen
Chartier-Stephens-Gauthier

I think Marner's problem is he's still adjusting and is not used to skill level. He so used to dominating in juniors and now he has only a few games to change his style of play to suit a faster paced game. That doesn't mean he doesn't have the necessary skill to be successful, but he will have to go for the simpler plays instead of getting cute. Marner has the IQ to dominate this tournament, he just has to realize he needs to take another approach to playmaking. It's good that the Strome line dominated the 3rd against a powerful US team. They just need to find the consistency and hopefully perlini will bring some new success to that line. I hope the Strome line gains some good confidence in tomorrow's game before we face more competitive opponents.

It's good to hear that Lowry is at least willing to move around players and not just keep with the same ones. Hopefully we can figure out some chemistry before we play the Swedes.

I really like those centres, Strome-Barzal-Point as 3 very creative offensive players and then the checking line. Barzal had a great game with 2 big bodies yesterday and keeping two big bodies will be good for him to be creative with the puck. Point needs the puck on his stick and with players like Chartier and Beauvillier, they will want him to have the puck.
I'm not convince about that. I think Barzal can certainly be creative with players who are not necessarily "big bodies" (he did very well with Beauvillier and Stephens at the last wjc-u18). So do we really need Quenneville in his line?

If you counts the 5 exhibition games and the 1st against the U.S., Quenneville is still looking for his first point, and yet he played with Strome and Marner and his having a good ice time overall.

What I found funny is to heard Lowry saying the players have to shoot the puck more and one of his best available "sniper" is use as the 13th forward with very little ice time...

I 'm curious to see what adjustments will be made against Denmark.

That's pretty accurate. Why are people mad about this?

Yeah I don't see an issue. And it's not just TSN. It's really the whole country's attitude - if you don't bring home the gold then you've failed. It's harsh but that's kind of the way it's always been.

I relish the opportunity to see what Barzal can do with more talented players than he has to work with in Seattle. His game against a tough USA team was eye opening. Had Perlini buried one of his 2 grade A chances. Barzal could have had 2 or 3 points from game 1 instead of his lone goal. This is why I had him so high in my own rankings. As like last spring's under 18 where he led Canada in scoring, he seems to be get better in tougher tournaments where the level of play is higher.

Does anyone on the team skate like him, hit like him or shoot the puck like him? Is he a cerebral player? No, but his physical attributes are outstanding, different players bring different aspects to the game and Virtanen is an X factor for team Canada.

Id much rather see Beauvillier play with Point and Marner. Quenneville doesnt look to me like he has the creativity and hockey sense to mesh well with them.
