Because Marner has been invisible thats why hes getting trashed. Hes getting the minutes and not providing anything. Hes almost been as useless as Virtanen thus far

How has he been invisible. 3 points in 3 games and constantly making things happen. How is that invisible? Are you sure you're watching the right game? Maybe you're watching the Spengler Cup?

There is no way hes been invisible. He's one or two favorable bounces away from being one of the top tournament producers. How many posts/crossbars has he hit 3/4?

Yeah, sounds invisible.

Yes and im the only one trashing him? Look around theres a lot more people trashing him then praising him. For a 4th Overall pick he should be producing a lot more than he has. By the way Crossbar and post dont matter. Close only counts in Curling and Horseshoes there bud

Virtanen sucks, doesn't look to have much of a future in the NHL. bottom six is his high upside. I mostly see AHL in his game.

Chabot has probably the worst shot on the team, if not this tournament. No way he makes an impact in the NHL with that. My 80 year old grandpa could probably shoot harder

Strome is sooooo slow and his shot takes way too long to get off. Soooo glad Arizona picked him instead of Marner. Unless he dramatically works on his skating and shot release theres no way hes an impact player in the NHL.

Sanheim is a poor poor mans Jake Gardiner, sure he's good on the PP and can move, but god does he make awful decisions with the puck and is horrendous in the d zone.

Crouse, how was this guy rated so high? He's dumb as bricks and has done NOTHING this tournament. All he is is big and he doesn't use it at all.

Now, Marner and Dermott. Those two have been the absolute STARS of Team Canada. They'd be absolutely nowhere without the two of them. Maybe if we brought better players over Marner and Dermott could have some help

I will 10 VDollars/VCash to everyone who does not talk about Marner.

The thing w. Marner is he is trying too much rather than just letting his natural ability take over. His 3 minute shifts are astonishing. If he can minimize the turnovers, and simplify his game he will be just fine. Kind. Of like what Barzal is doing.

I don't understand the Marner hate, Im not convinced his skills will translate to the NHL but I'm certainly not oblivious to the fact that his skills should be dominating a tournament like this w. Peers around his age.

So with Strome having 1 more point than him, and being drafted one spot higher than Marner, this means that he too is invisible as well right?

"Astonishing" isn't really the word that comes to mind when I watch Marner's long shifts.

He stands out a lot more than Marner has. I dont even like Strome. The Crouse- Strome- Virtanen was the best against the Swiss and even they were terrible up until the 3rd. Ib reality Canada has been playing like trash. Everyone needs to step up

Stop all the fanbase bashing if you want to stay in this forum.

People are going to see what they see. Morgan Rielly was bashed endlessly over here despite the entire team looking like garbage and an overall bad roster year in 2011. I remember when this board had was convinced Ryan Murphy and Cody Ceci would end up better players.

I honestly love the criticism Marner gets because it proves the exact opposite of what people say around here.

I think the Virtanen -Strome-Crouse line will dominant from here on out. That is a massive huge line. They won't score pretty goals but they will get the dirty crash and bang ones.

There's NO doubt you can see the skill Marner possesses, but the kid is trying to do WAY too much out there. In terms of how he was dominating the CHL, he should be dominating the WJC. However, the only times I came away impressed by him was against the weaker teams. I have yet to see him really do anything (outside of a few spurts and his time on the PP [which he is really good on] ) fantastic out there.

With regards to his point total:
2 points against Denmark (one just as PP expiring)
Assist on PP against US.

I like Marner, but he has at LEAST another 2 gears to give out there. Hopefully he picks it up at the end of the tournament.

I meant Astonishing as in mind blown as to how selfish someone can be to stay out for that long for 1 shift. It's ineffective.

Apologies. I misunderstood...I thought you meant you were impressed.

He does the same thing in London as well...however it doesn't seem like the coaches are telling him to stop (Dale Hunter certainly doesn't)...so you can't just blame him. Seems like It's coaching.

In a more general sense, Lowry's allocation of ice time amongst players has been mind boggling.

Ok, I'm curious why you feel Marner and Dermott have been the "STARS" of this team? Just a question.

garbage talk. Marner is not the only one invisible and you know it. Virtanen, that too, these 2 players are not the only ones invisible. there are only 4 players that are "kinda" standing out among a struggling group. and they are standing out among a "struggling" group. To pin it on 2 players is extremely unfair, not to mention Virtanen just came out an injury, but yea, he was drafted by Vancouver, how bout Fleury? He was actually the real guy that went before Ehlers and Nylander the top dman from the 2014 draft that is playing, and he's been someone disappointing but very few has mentioned his name because he wasn't drafted up north.

that said I"m not saying lets start flaming him, although personally I did have extremely high expectations on a few players, the ones taht are tearing up the OHL, but really, team Canada has always been a "stacked" team regardless of experience. Their are plenty of players that are top line players on their team that also need to step it up.

Looking at the big picture, everyone has been underperforming.

This is a young team, and it's showed thus far.

lol everyone is venting their frustrations on 2 players.

Lol....stars....hahaha. There have been no stars so far.

I don't care about Marner. However, it has been covered over and over and over and over again.

I honestly can't remember another year that the world junior talk has been this unsufferable. Like other years it is bad but it is getting to the point that the GDT is pretty well unreadable and this thread is honestly just as bad. Here is a hint to the people that seem to want to bash one or two players, if this team fails it is because the entire team wasn't good enough not one player. It is sad that the talk on here has sunk so low.
