Roy is right now injured, so we will probably never know what would have been the decision by HC. But with the lack of RH shot from the back end, Roy would have been a good candidate for sure.

Sherbrooke, without Roy in their line-up are 1-10-1. When he's in : 11-5-4. Just saying.
Roy is healthy. He's expected to play on Friday against the Drakkar.

MacDonald is the better tender in what way?

Mac or Mc.

I guess to be more specific, McDonald is the more athletic goalie and Blackwood the more technical shotblocker. personal preference, I prefer the more athletic if given the choice and both are fairly equal in size. We'll see how it shakes out at selection camp and which one wins the job. I always thought McDonald will be the better pro...but that doesn't mean much for this tournament.

MacDonald is the more athletic goaltender? Is this a joke?

Blackwood is all size and athleticism, if anything he needs to refine his skils to be a better positioned puck stopper. On top of that the stats very much suggest Blackwood is the much better puck stopper at the moment. The only thing McDonald has over him is international experience.

"McDonald is a tall, lanky goaltender with natural coverage coupled with a strong posture between the pipes. For his size, has quick athleticism and reflexes but remains a goaltender that more often blocks pucks instead of saving pucks. (August 2013)"

not everybody has to agree on everything.

On TSN last week he said he will certainly be ready to go by Dec.26th. Maybe it's just by precaution and it was asked by Hockey Canada.

that's troubling for sure.

Camp opens. let the fun begin.

I believe he was going to ask for a pass on the scrimmage game upcoming because he was a returning player and there is no question he is on the team
He says he will ready for the WJc

Indeed.

Took in the 67s - Frontenacs game last night. Konecny was made to play on the international ice; he's such a dynamic skater and puck handler, and his offensive awareness is evident every time he steps onto the ice. I think he could be a key piece for us this year. McKeown had a nice, steady game (and I think he's practically lock, as he's one of three RD invited to camp). Watson scored a nice goal (on a poor play by an Ottawa D), but was otherwise not very noticeable. I imagine he's the kind of the guy that will need to be paired with a strong playmaker in order to have an impact...and he'd probably be better able to utilize his skillset on the international ice. I wasn't overly impressed with Crouse; he got into a fight but otherwise didn't seem engaged physically. He's a strong skater, but I'm slightly concerned with how his game will translate on the international ice surface.

Ya, I keep checking TSN for the annual airport arrival interviews. I thought we were down to 2 RD with the Walman injury. Did we add another to the selection camp roster. I haven't been tracking it that close.

McKeown and Juulsen are RHed D, while Hicketts is LHed but plays RD. Walman was LHed.

right. but can and does play RD a bit. at least that's what I thought. but maybe not. it doesn't matter.

Anyway, this non habs fan is anxious to see Juulsen play. love his game and he could very well be the rock we need on next year's team, so MB and MT better not get any wild ideas about rushing him to the NHL.

One question here.

Does anyone know what type of jerseys is Canada going to use for the tournament? Same jerseys as last year? Thanks in advance!

These I'm pretty sure:

Looking at these lines we can see who start with a strike. Chartier, Quenneville and Merkley together make me feel they have to win their spots.

Yes! Crouse - Strome - Marner

Love the idea of Sanheim - Dermott as well. Hope the lines work out

Hopefully this line can end up being similar to the Duclair-Reinhart-Domi line that was so successful last year. They are good friends and have played together before. I think that'll help to them to get over any nervousness they have of being on the big stage.

Dermott and Sanheim look good on paper, but they haven't played together before iirc so the names on paper don't mean much until we see the on ice results.

Based on Camp Roster here are my predictions:

Dal Colle - Point - Watson
Crouse- Strome - Marner
Perlini - Barzal - Konecny
Dubois - Stephens - Hawryluk
Merkley

Sanheim - Hicketts
Fleury - Juulsen
Dermott - McKeown
Dunn

McDonald
Blackwood
Montembeault

*I had Walman on my team but he's injured*

Did anyone attend the practices?

Im assuming they will take 23 players

3 g
13 f
7 d

Who will be the 4 cuts on D?

Dunn? Chabot? Lauzon? Hickey?

I think Dunn has the upperhand on Chychrun. Hockey Canada historically didn't like taking draft eligible defenceman until Aaron Ekblad and Chychrun is no Ekblad.

What are we thinking the odds are on Virtanen? Seems like a rather convenient time to be sent down...

He's on a conditioning stint because he was injured. The only way he can play in the AHL is if its a post injury conditioning stint.

I think that he will be loaned to the WJC and to be honest I'd be surprised/pissed if he wasn't. He was not playing a key role on the Canucks and he would benefit greatly from playing in this tournament again especially since he's coming back from injury.
