Are you putting up the same lineup every time or are you putting different lines every day. You've had at least 5 different lineups in this thread already.
I know its getting annoying. That was my last one.

5?

He has at least 10 with Shirley in it before the camp roster came out.

I guess if one posts literally every possible roster permutation they can give themselves a pat on the back when they inevitably get the roster "right". I guess that's what he cares about since he's going all complaining about others "copying" his rosters now

Dubois is the only forward who would be a surprise to me. He's good enough and I like his game, but it would be a surprise in the same way Crouse was.

Something interesting with regard to a player like Merkley is that he is one of several playmaking wingers that Canada will be choosing from. Canada generally has playmakers at centre and goal scorers on the wing, so it's interesting to see players like Marner (presumably a wing this tournament) Beauvillier, Konecny and Merkley being strongly considered in some cases. The presumed top three centres (Point, Barzal, Strome) are all strong playmakers as well, so it will be interesting to see how things fit. A player like Merkley would be a great fit on some editions of team Canada (like 2014) but I don't know that his skillset is all that useful with many forwards already doing most of the same things (minus the agitating). My guess is that a player like Gauthier, who is similar to Merkley in terms of ability, had a big advantage because he is one of the few goal scorers at the camp.

Crouse Point Marner
Beauvillier Barzal Gauthier
Watson Strome Konecny
?????? (Stephens) (Hawryluk)
???????

My guess is that nine spots are gone already. Hockey Canada likes Stephens, so he probably has a good chance despite his injury. Hawryluk has looked good in the evaluation exercises thus far and is having a good year, so if he's healthy I think he's a very strong candidate. Last two spots will depend on who performs in the camp, with some players (Dal Colle, Perlini) probably getting the benefit of the doubt.

Gauthier is not a lock but right now he has the most goals of any player on the list
Between him- Dubois- Merkley- Chartier for the final three picks
I like the list above
Too bad but how can Dal Colle and Perlini crack this group

Point - Barzal - Marner
Watson - Beaullivier - Gauthier
Crouse - Strome - Konecy
Hawryluk - Chartier - Merkley (Dal Colle - Quennville - Hawryluk)
Perlini

Dermott - Hicketts
Fleury - Mckeowan
Sanheim - Juulsen
Chychrun

Blackwood
McDonald
Replace Chartier with Quennville and throw in Dal Colle on the LW and put Hawrylyk on the right side and I think we have a team here.

cuts: dubois, stephens, merkley, chartier

Point - Barzal - Marner
Watson - Beaullivier - Gauthier
Crouse - Strome - Konecy
Hawryluk - Chartier - Merkley
Perlini

Dermott - Hicketts
Fleury - Mckeowan
Sanheim - Juulsen
Chychrun

Blackwood
McDonald

That 2nd line is disgusting.

1st and 3rd look alright, but no way that can be the 2nd line

This would be my forward group:

Michael Dal Colle - Dylan Strome - Mitch Marner > all out offense (1st line)
Lawson Crouse - Braydon Point - Travis Konecny > complete line (2A line)
Anthony Beauvillier - Mat Barzal - Julien Gauthier > complete line (2B line)
Pierre-Luc Dubois - Mitchell Stephens - Jayce Hawrlyuk > energy, compete line (4th line)
Spencer Watson/John Quenneville

Just curious, why do most people have Dermott making the team ahead of Chabot? I think Chabot is the better player.

I think (hope) that Dermott is the better defensive player. The team will already have some offensive weapons on defence, needs a bit more balance. I could be wrong though... I'm not that impressed with Dermott overall, but I think he is a better fit in a third pairing role.

Appreciate the feedback. I like that second line. The second line is pure speed. You have Beaullivier setting up Watson who will be in front of the goalie. Watson can deflect a shot, take the shot/pass right on his stick and wire one home, sort of like what he was able to do did against the Russians in the second game they played when Marner was dishing him the puck down low. Instead in this case it will be Beaullivier not Marner setting him up. Then you have Gautheir on the right side who is almost too fast for his own good, who will crash the net with speed and leave the odd rebound out for Watson or Beaullivier to tap in after he's taken the goalie into the net with him.

I think MDC on that 1st line won't work. MDC tries to play the same style and MArner and Strome but he can't think the game as fast as Marner and Strome can and he tends to kill a ton of the plays. A pure sniper who knows his role like Watson may be a better choice.

Very well said. Like Dal Colle tries to finish off the one time pass Marner or Strome has given him but hes either fanned on the shot or just missed period. He just doesn't think the game as fast.

So Dermott can have a bad camp and still make the team?

Dermott didn't have a great camp but he has been playing very well since. I know Chabot was picked higher but Dermott has been the better player so far this year. That 2015 draft was sooooo deep, was a coin flip draft from the teens to the late 2nd early 3rd round.

Would be totally surprised if Dermott doesn't make it. Saw him vs SSM in last years playoffs and he was the best player on the ice for at least 2 of those games, even with 97 on the ice.
If he is given the chance he will be hard to bump out of 1st pairing.
This year he has developed into more of a 2'way player. Once Cernak arrived he started putting up points.
