Quick glimpse at the three NHL Draft eligibles:

Chychrun, 17, has four goals and 16 points in 25 games for the Sarnia Sting of the Ontario Hockey League this season, and has previously competed at the World Under-17 Challenge. He is Canada’s highest-ranked prospect in Future Considerations’ November ranking for the 2016 NHL Draft.

Gauthier, ranked sixth, has 23 goals and 30 points in 28 games for the Val-D’or Foreurs. Like Chychrun, the 18-year-old Gauthier has competed at the World Under-17 Challenge.

Dubois has 19 goals and 43 points in 30 games with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. He’s seventh in Future Considerations’ November ranking, and won gold with Canada at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial in August.

It depends on injuries but I think Virtanen will be sent to the WJC. He needs some more ice time and to get some confidence offensively. His advanced stats are strong but I think the WJC would do him good. McCann on the other hand will not be sent down. But I think there will be a condition on Virtanen, much like Lazar. I'm pretty sure Ottawa only sent Lazar if he'd be tied to McDavid. I bet the Canucks will only send Virtanen if he can play with Marner.

Crouse - Barzal - Marner
Dal Colle - Point - Konecny
Perlini - Strome - Merkley
Beauvillier - Quenneville - Watson
Hawyrluk

Hicketts - McKeown
Sanheim - Juulsen
Fleury - Chabot
Chychrun

Blackwood
McDonald

Pretty much the group that most of us expected. Only player that I really expected to see that isn't there is Roy... he had a bad summer camp (not as bad as McKeown) but he's been very good in league play both this year and last. Disappointed that Walman was invited, looks bad on Hockey Canada.

So torn on Dal Colle...it's either boom or bust. 1st line LW or not on the team at all IMO. Certainly nothing lower than a Top 6 role. I think his history with Marner will pay off, and how sweet would this top line be when clicking? Here's my roster:

Dal Colle - Strome - Marner
Crouse (C) - Point (A) - Hawryluk
Perlini - Barzal - Chartier
Watson - Stephens - Konecny
Quenneville

Hicketts (A) - McKeown
Walman - Fleury
Chabot - Sanheim
Dermott

Blackwood
McDonald

you won't be disappointed when you see him play !!!

I do not get this HC rule of 2 goaltenders though. It just seems silly to not take 3.

Hart is having a good year and looks like a very viable candidate for the next two years. No reason not to take him for the experience.

My disappointment has nothing to do with his level of play. I prefer team Canada to only pick players who, you know, want to play for Canada more than they do for any other country.

Meh, who cares.

He's probably going to be the best D-man at the tourney. He wanted to play for the U.S. Was found ineligible and now he's playing for Canada. What's wrong with that?

Personally I think the tandem of Hickey and Walman will play big minutes. they are both playing against higher levels of competition then the CHL players and both are big guys that can move the puck (Jake is a lot more offensive though) and shut down the other teams best.

They'll learn their lesson one of these years if one of the 2 goes down with an injury during a game leaving us without a backup. (knock on wood that it doesn't happen). I just don't get the rational behind it. What's the downside?

Well, color me silly! No Shirley. Okay! That's the last time I make fun of the Shirley hype.

I'm good with what I see. I do hope we get a few NHLers and we should be good to go.

I agree. Especially because the last couple of tournaments they've taken 2 19 year olds...which means neither can return the next season.

What's wrong with it is that he wants to play for another team. Worse yet a team that Canada will have to face. It's a joke that Canada would pick a player so willing to play for another team. There is no need to be so desperate.

One year they gave the lame excuse that there is so much pressure on Canadian goaltenders that picking only two is better - they already know they're on the team. Very weak. There was one instance in the late 80s (possibly early 90s) when Canada lost a goaltender and only had one reserve... I think. Can't remember the year or the goaltender. Bringing Hart would be a smart investment in the future.

Dal Colle - Strome - Point
Beauvillier- Barzal - Marner
Crouse - Konecny - Gauthier
Perlini - Quenneville - Hawryluk
Stephens

Hicketts - Sanheim
Fleury - Juulsen
Walman - Mckeown
Chychrun

Blackwood
McDonald

Cuts - Chartier, Dubois, Merkley, Watson, Chabot, Dermott, Dunn, Hickey

Been waiting for the camp roster to come out:

FORWARDS
Watson-Strome – Marner
Crouse-Point-Konecny
Dal Colle-Barzal-Merkley
Dubois-Beauvillier-Perlini
Quenneville

Forward cuts: Chartier, Gauthier, Hawryluk, Stephens

DEFENCE
Hicketts-Sanheim
Fleury-Juulsen
Dermott-McKeown
Walman
Defence cuts: Chabot, Chychrun, Dunn, Hickey

GOALTENDING
Blackwood (starter)
McDonald (Backup)

Man this roster is one of Canada's worst in a while. There is high end talent - Marner, Strome, Barzal, but not a lot of depth, and also no stud defenceman.

Guys like Perlini, Watson, McKeown wouldnt have had a shot at the team if we had depth like last year. Really need our big guns to step up, and if Dal Colle would step it up would be massive

Given the camp roster I would like to see this:

Crouse Point Marner (dynamic offence plus size/defence from Crouse)
Beauvillier Barzal Gauthier (playmaking and possible chemistry from Beauvillier and Barzal plus size and finishing from Gauthier)
Watson Strome Konecny (Strome plus some quick players to feed him in the slot)
Quenneville Stephens Hawryluk (general checking/defensive line with some chemistry on the wings)
Dubois (as good as any other option for 13th forward, versatile and gets experience)

Sanheim Juulsen (well rounded unit)
Fleury McKeown (defensive assignments)
Dermott Hicketts (sheltered minutes... Hicketts brings some experience at least)
Chabot (elite puck movement)

Blackwood
McDonald

I think that the actual roster will be similar, but with Walman or Hickey in place of Chabot and Merkley/Dal Colle in place of Dubois/Quenneville

I sense a level of sarcasm (hopefully).

Take whatever "Fire Sweeney" says with less than a grain of salt. And then with that grain of salt, take even less of that.

Guy is Bruin forum troll who is negative 100% of the time, and constantly posts sarcastic unnecessary BS like this.

I think DeBrusk earned at least an invite and even more so Lauzon with how he's been for the RN Huskies. I know the "Q" is known for high scoring, but along with his point totals, he's been playing every situation for the Huskies and playing upwards of 30 minutes a night. He's been just (if not more) impressive than Chabot.

The defense is a strong point from what I've read. No pure stud defenseman but everyone is very good.
