idk if you can say that "the best team won" per se. It could have gone either way tonight. Two very good teams played a great exciting hockey game once the initial crap ended and they let the skill flow. I guess it's only fitting that Canada came out with Gold at home. They earned it. Happy kids and fans.

Well, at least the country that won is the only country that really cares about the tournament, so there's that.

Don't get me wrong. If the US or Russia or Sweden or whathaveyou had won, it'd be a nice celebration, but largely forgotten in a week. Canada has some crazy passion for this tournament.

Didn't Russia lose a game during the tournament, and Canada was undefeated?

Yeah, the best team won.

Kinda like the Kings were the best team last year. Cuz they won.

And frankly, I don't understand it.

Don't worry, everyone will have forgotten by wednesday.

No, I don't think so. They (we) haven't won in a few years so this one will be remembered for a while.

I'll give the fans of the WJs credit, they are passionate year in and year out. Like I said, I don't particularly understand the passion - I watched the last two minutes of the game and wasn't nervous at all. In contrast, watching the Cowboys yesterday, I could feel my heart trying to come out of my chest and I was jumping and fist pumping and generally making an ass of myself in front of my neighbor's wife and two girls. I guess I just don't care about the WJs at all.

Story over.

well if you want to get technical :sarcasm:
They built a different team this year and it was fun to watch the skill play out.

I wonder if Tolchinsky's fine play will translate to the NHL like say, Gaudreau (Johnny sp?). Goes undrafted because of his size...? He may be a hell of a player for the Canes soon if he gets the chance.

Yeah, I mostly just pay attention to see if any Canes prospects are in it and if they're doing well. I didn't realize the passion Canadians had for the tournament until Ryan Murphy somehow became the Devil incarnate overnight a couple years ago.

Tolchinsky isn't THAT small really. He looked awesome with sick skill, quick and the guy generates offense. I don't know the details on whether or not he can even be called up but it would be interesting to see him play. 19 years old. I'd say he's a terrific prospect and a great signing by whoever it was that decided to bring him in. Seldom talked about though, considering.

I'd say he's got a great shot to become this franchise's next highly talented Russian scapegoat.

I get why some people might not like Arcade Fire, but I don't get how they could be considered "forgettable." For better or worse they basically created the modern indie rock scene. So many bands after have derived their style and sound from them. I think Arcade Fire is one of the best current bands in all of music, though.
