US can't stop taking penalties. The ones I've seen have been completely deserved. (Think I've seen 4 of the 7)

Russia wins. Someone more well versed in Jr hockey should tell me if this is a disappointment for the US. I mean...is this a massive underachievement or is Russia damn good too.

To me the US has the better team overall but Russia was underestimated. The US PP was ineffective in the tournament but their PK held Russia off considering that the US took a bunch of undisciplined penalties. These top teams are so good that these games could go either way with a bounce.

Canada looks have the most "skilled" team they've had in the last several years but they better not be too over confident.

my 2 cents...

yep Tolchinsky is good.

I love having annoying people yell at me because I have the Flames game on at my bar when Canada is up 5-0.

And the bar is full of people in Calgary jerseys.

Have you just figured out now that the world juniors are hugely important in Canada? Flames such and play 82 games a year. World juniors comes but once a year and lasts just 7 games.

I'd have yelled at you, too

Think he's going to be ready to head over to the AHL next year? We need the injection of talent at that level in the absolute worst way right now. Probably second only to a new coaching staff there.

Well, he was superhot in the beginning, but he (and the whole team) has cooled down last month. If I had to say now, it's probably better that he stay in Sweden for one more year.

But if he can get a big role in Charlotte, who knows?

This Russian team is actually pretty good and they're full of 19 year olds. Think something like 18 of their players are 19 years of age. That experience is so key in this tournament. The lack of experience showed for a team like the US. they should have done better than they did, but the draw certainly didn't help either.
